i can't believe they had maya complain about tacos the entirety of gmb, not even bother look for the bear, get mad when josh wanted to keep looking, and then ended up getting that darn bobble head while riley got nothing. riley went out of her way, even cried to get that stupid thing and maya did nothing for her.

I wouldn’t be nearly as frustrated with the episode if, as I believe @grizbehr suggested, they had given Maya a reason to be so excited/obsessed beyond the “but tacos!” argument, and if they hadn’t simultaneously implied that it was essentially unreasonable to hold on to any sort of mementos from your childhood. Seriously. There were a number of ways that they could have reasonably executed the plot as it was and had both girls  be “right” and both girls still learn something from the endeavor, but those would have involved a touch more effort, so they aren’t what we got.

bear didn't feel like a season 3 episode to me

Yep. Aside from the hinting moments of romantic subplot, there was no reason for this episode to be where it was. In my opinion it’s a growing problem with the show. They’re a lot more interested in talking about the kids growing up than in actually letting them grow up. So we get super juvenile plots where the lesson is supposed to be about maturing, but rather than let that stick, the next episode almost everyone is back at square one and we cycle through it again. I don’t know if they think there’s no medium between this silliness and crazy drama like the kids on Degrassi deal with, or that if they let the kids actually mature and stay mature that they won’t be able to add in comedy/parts of the audience will no longer be interested or what, but it’s doing them a real disservice.

Pretty sure Maya wanted to go get running out tacos and come back to look for a teddy bear that was in the easy confines of a small apartment after. It’s really not that insensitive? Like I love Riley and I know she meant well and it was important to her but she really went to town with the guilt trip which was manipulative. It was literally dawn they had all day to look and getting food would take less than half an hour and breakfast is important anyway. So why are we all hating so hard?
