What This Fandom Means To Me. [GMW Edition]

This will be the first in my new series called ‘What This Fandom Means To Me (who would’ve guessed, right?). Anyway, this is my Girl Meets World Edition. I hope some of you can relate and maybe even share what this fandom means to you. 

I was introduced to this show around a time when I was getting ready to go through a big change in life. This change came in the form of high school. Don’t get me wrong; I was absolutely ready for high school. I’m the Farkle of my small friend group. Despite being ready, however, I struggle to accept change. I understand this about myself and I’ve learned to deal with it. So, Girl Meets World came into my life when I needed it most.

 I’ve learned that I have a little bit of Farkle in myself; I am intelligent and will be there for my friends always. I have a little bit of Lucas in myself; I stick up for my friends and loyalty runs deep. I have a little bit of Isadora in myself; maybe I’m not completely with it in terms of people, but I’m trying. I have a little bit of Zay in myself; I am always trying to make people laugh, even when I don’t want to. I have a little bit of Maya in myself; I come with baggage, but I love and feel the same as everyone else. I have a little bit of Riley in myself; I hope. Maybe I don’t hope the way Riley does (I am, after all, a pessimist), but I hope. 

Girl Meets World means the hope and belief that I have in my friends. If I don’t have that hope and belief, then I do not have true friends. I can most certainly try my best to take everything life throws at me because I have a 100% survival rate so far. I hope that the fandom finds support, hope, and belief in each other.

I really hope that somehow this Robin Hood gets to stay and get all the memories with Regina back. I really hope that Regina gets her happy ending. And I really hope Robin is apart of that. Also enjoy this old gif.

Girl Meets Abuse

Before I say anything, I would like you to know that this is not an au, but it does have to deal with Girl Meets World. Personally, I think abuse is a topic the show should cover. 

Yes, I understand that is Disney Channel show. But I firmly believe that people of all ages should be informed about abuse. Any kind of abuse. 

They do not have to show somebody being beaten or someone being torn down with words and emotionally ripped apart. It can be implied. It could be handled like Rileytown; one of the characters could show a change, and, in a round about way, this person could take action against it. Obviously this wouldn’t be a one episode plot. They could show subtle changes and then build up. Riley could push Maya away little by little until Maya is basically cut out of her life. OR Farkle could start getting F’s on his tests. Eventually, the secret would come out that something bad is happening; the abuse is revealed. Lucas, Zay, Farkle, Riley, Maya, and Smackle could be shown dealing with it without making the show too depressing. It is possible. 

This show has the power and platform to show people that any kind of abuse is not okay. I believe they should do that because everyone needs to know that PHYSICAL ABUSE IS NOT PLAYFUL. VERBAL ABUSE IS NOT FUNNY. EMOTIONAL ABUSE IS NOT LOVE. SEXUAL ABUSE IS NOT OKAY.

Honestly, I want Caroline to realize how all the men in her life has treated her and then I want her to end up with Klaus. It's the fact that Klaus showed mercy that gets me every time. He showed mercy for Caroline. She was the first thing that made him feel in about 1000 years. I think they'd be happy together.

Today in Spanish, my teacher showed up a picture of a famous Spanish painter, Frida Kahlo, who is well known because of her self portraits. In her self portraits, Frida painted herself with facial hair. Upon seeing this picture, multiple boys in my class made rude comments about her saying, “gross.” “she’s ugly.” etc. My Spanish teacher simply looked at them and said, “When are you guys going to grow up and learn that women have hair everywhere on their bodies that men do?” Never have I seen a group of high school boys so appalled and speechless.

As A Fan of GMW...

I want ALL of the characters to be happy. Okay, I hardcore ship Joshaya, but I'm all for them being apart for awhile because it's healthy, but would honestly love for them to come back together. I love and respect Smackle although I ship Riarkle with my all. As a fan of Girl Meets World, I respect all ships and shippers, and I also will respect whatever ships end up together.
