Great Mills High School
I graduated from GMHS in 2006. I never once feared going to school.
Today, my Alma Mater became known to the nation as another example of a school shooting.
Information is not clear as of right now, but my understanding is that the teenager was upset over a love triangle situation between him, a girl, and another boy.
This happened not because he was isolated or bullied or anything, but because he was upset over a relationship that he had, then didn’t have. He was angry and could not think of another way to handle the situation. He was not mature enough to deal.
He is now dead. Two others are injured. One of them may not make it. These are children that were dealt a final blow or serious bodily harm.
And I can just think of how I once felt safe there, and it is forever now… not. My first thought was, “but this is my hometown… that’s my school.”
