US Navy Captain Edgar Mitchell photographed contemplating about the Apollo 14 mission. Mitchell was  Lunar Module Pilot and landed in the Fra Mauro region on the Moon aboard LM Antares together with Alan Shepard. Edgar Mitchell’s  interests included consciousness & paranormal phenomena. During Apollo 14, he conducted ESP - Extra Sensory Perception experiments and the results were published in the 1971 Journal of Parapsychology. Mitchell retired from NASA & US NAvy in 1972 and was co-founder of the Association of Space Explorers in 1983. Apollo 14 Command Module PIlot Stuart “Stu”Roosa onboard CSM “KittyHawk” was clearly wearing two wristwatches. Besides the NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster chronograph on long black velcro on his left wrist, he also wore his personal Rolex GMT-master Pepsi 1675 pilotwatch at his right wrist. Apollo 14 astronaut Stuart Allen “Stu” Roosa photographed during suit-up on launch day. Note, that besides his NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster chronograph on long black velcro strapped over the forearm, he also wore an extra personal (Rolex) wristwatch on his left wrist underneath the spacesuit. As CMP - Command Module Pilot Roosa stayed in orbit conducting experiments while Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell walked on the lunar surface. October 4, 1967 USAF test pilot William “Pete” Knight walks away from the white X-15A2 hypersonic research rocket aircraft after setting a record-breaking Mach 6.7 flight. Note Knight had his personal Rolex GMT-master Pepsi wristwatch strapped over his left forearm. On October 17, 1967 Pete Knight took the rocket plane up to an altitude of 280500 feet (85 kilometers) earning him USAF astronaut wings. Knight made 16 flights in the X-15. (Photo: USAF/NASA)

May 1973, Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard seen during a golf tournament at the Quail Valley golf club. America’s first astronaut Shepard was a very keen golfer since his Mercury days and had the idea to carry an Iron-6 golfclub end to the Moon. This Iron-6 was attached to a long 5-sections geologic sampler stick so Shepard could make two lunar golf Moonshots in the Fra Mauro region. The golf issue is an interesting story, which is slightly touched on in the 2019 movie “Fallen Astronaut” by Dutch filmmaker Frank Herrebout. A little part talks about a golf pro named Danny Lawler who was asked by Deke Slayton to provide some golf lessons to the crews and via Lawler, the astronauts ended up wearing the alligator-logo Lacoste polo. Untill now it isn’t clear which golf balls were used on the Moon. The brand could be revealed as future Moon explorers will find both golf balls. October 27, 1971 Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard as a member of the US political committee at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On August 26, 1971 Shepard was promoted as US Navy Rear Admiral and became the first U.N. delegate who has been on the Moon.
