Maya: Okay. Let me show you everything you need to know about boys and girls.
Maya: *walks over to Lucas*
Maya: Hi, I'm Maya! You're really cute. We should hang out some time. You make me happy. You don't pay enough attention to me. This isn't working out. It's you, not me. We can still be friends! Not really.
I don’t really know what possessed me to do this, but I got caught up trying to see how many of the season 1 outfits I could recognize in Girl Meets Demolition. Figured I might as well make a post about it.
I’ve really come to enjoy the fashion on the show, so this was fun for me.
1, 2, 3, and 4: 1x01 - Girl Meets World
These pieces belong to the first outfits that Riley and Maya wear on the show. Pretty sure Maya’s jacket shows up again in the season 1 finale, but it could just be another one with similar sleeves.
5 and 6: Season 1 Credits
The credits...and also the transition scene, which is sometimes shown with different backgrounds. It’s hard to see the white flower pattern on the shorts in Demolition, but it’s there.
Maya’s blue top shows up again in 1x05 - Girl Meets the Truth.
Looking closely, I think these are actually two different dresses and so little of it is visible in Demolition that I can’t be sure which one it is. The flowers on the 1x15 dress seem to be a deeper red and a closer match for the one in Demolition. Part of Riley’s outfit from episode one seems to return here as well.
8: 1x02 - Girl Meets Boy
Maya wore this as the class presented their findings after their trip to the library.
9: 1x03 - Girl Meets Sneak Attack
“I wish the world was just me and you.”
“Then it is.”
10 and 11: 1x03 - Girl Meets Sneak Attack
Riley and Maya get themselves into detention. Riley owns a lot of things with pretty flower patterns on them. I like the color combination here.
12: 1x04, 1x14, and 1x17 - Father, Friendship, and Game Night
Maya owns several red plaid items, but this one is the brightest and easiest to spot, even when only a little corner of it is visible in Demolition.
13: 1x04 - Girl Meets Father
I like this pattern. I feel like these pants will really stand out 20 years from now as being dated, but I think they look nice.
14: 1x04 - Girl Meets Father
The Father-Daughter dance scene.
15 and 16: 1x05 - Girl Meets the Truth
Riley wants to know where Maya got such a nice locket. Maya shuns squirrel, states: “I was already in my thing with the pigeon.” More pretty flower patterns for Riley. Not the first or the last time that Maya wears purple, though I think this is the only one of her purple pieces that gets screen time in Demolition.
17: 1x07 - Girl Meets Maya’s Mother
When Riley and Maya met Stuart Minkus.
18: 1x07 - Girl Meets Maya’s Mother
It took me forever to remember when one of them wore a shirt with a photo-realistic dog on it, but when I saw it in Demolition I knew I had seen it before. Unrelated: I really like that shimmering wavy effect on Maya’s sleeves here.
19: 1x07 - Girl Meets Maya’s Mother
I’m imagining that it must have taken some time and effort to get the paint stains out of this dress...and then Riley turns around and sells the thing for cheap.
20: 1x08 - Girl Meets Smackle
Not really sure what’s happening on these pants, but it made the pattern easier to spot in Demolition.
21: 1x08 - Girl Meets Smackle
Another flower dress for Raina Riley.
22: 1x09 - Girl Meets 1961
Red plaid really pulls Maya’s look together a lot of the time. I tend to associate her with either red plaid patterns or yellow and purple.
23: 1x09 - Girl Meets 1961
Riley dances while Maya plays the guitar and sings about Lucas. I remember seeing this in the opening credits and wondering when and how Bob Dylan was going to be part of the lesson.
24: 1x10 - Girl Meets Crazy Hat
This shirt just kind of blended together with several of the others in my memory, so it took a while for me to figure out which episode it belonged to. This is when Maya says she’s “set for life” because Riley “Meal-Ticket” Matthews will never get sick of her.
25 and 26: 1x10 - Girl Meets Crazy Hat
When Riley and Maya get fired from their pretend jobs. The pants make a return in 1x19.
27: 1x12 - Girl Meets the Forgotten
Admittedly, this is barely visible in Demolition, but it seems to be the right shade of yellow and I think parts of the image can be seen if you squint.
28: 1x12 - Girl Meets the Forgotten
Another yellow item for Maya. Looking at Demolition, I almost mistook this for the yellow jacket she wears in 1x08, but this one has more of a cheetah print and that one has words and lightning bolts on it.
29: 1x13 - Girl Meets Flaws
It wasn’t hard for me to clock this dress because it’s from one of my favorite Rilaya moments.
30: 1x14 - Girl Meets Friendship
As previously mentioned, Maya has several red plaid pieces. I can say with some confidence that this one is a match based on the white stripes in the pattern, but I could be wrong.
31: 1x14 - Girl Meets Friendship
It took me a while to realize that this was all one garment and not just a denim vest worn over a hoodie. (Pretty sure the same is actually true for 2 and 3: Riley's black sleeves and camo-green vest from 1x01.)
The first thing I recognized was the flower on the denim part. I originally assumed that the blue sleeves in Demolition were Maya’s skull shirt from Game Night before I noticed that this item was a closer match on the shade of blue.
And this image from Demolition really highlights where the hoodie sleeves end and the denim begins. (And I marked the other visible items again.)
32: 1x19 - Girl Meets Farkle’s Choice
Riley really pulls off the flower patterns. I think these pants are very pretty. The blue and pink really work together. And Maya’s green plaid pants from 1x10 are back.
33: 1x20 - Girl Meets First Date
The dress that made Lucas say he was going to remember that moment for the rest of his life...and Riley was gonna sell it like nbd.
And it looks like Maya has another returning item. I'm not 100% sure that this is the same jacket from 1x01, but it would make for a nice bookend if it is. The 1x01 jacket looks like it might be another one of those vest-with-sleeves-attached numbers though. If that's the case, then this is probably the one that reappears in Demolition, with the inside visible and no signs of black leather.
34 and 35: Photoshoot
To the best of my recollection, neither of these pieces are worn in the show, but they were worn during a photoshoot where Rowan and Sabrina recreated archived photos of Ben and Rider from Boy Meets World.
Their presence in Demolition basically canonizes these moments, right?
