I finished the first chapter today! it took me six goddamn hours and I vacuumed the whole downstairs because I kept getting writer’s block in the middle, but I got it done! ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

I probably won’t post it until I get to chapter three, just to give me a head start and time to edit everything / make sure the voices all sound right

but here’s the summary:

The only thing Thom Rainier wants is a name change to Gordon Blackwall. Then he won’t ever again have to hear the name of the man who killed two teenagers in a drunk driving accident ten years ago. But adjusting to the world after ten years in prison—and getting a job—is more difficult than he thought. 

Sorrella Jordan loves the slow pace and found family of working at the local library. Having been homeless after escaping an abusive relationship in her teens, she’s always happy to help anyone looking for a fresh start. But after a string of bad contractors took her money and botched her plans of building a tiny house, she wishes someone would help her too. 

Soon Ella and Blackwall have rumors flying about them in both the library and the mechanic shop next door that hired him, as their friends place bets on when they’ll get together. With both of their pasts weighing them down however, the two are wary of opening up to each other—until a hotshot lawyer does some more digging into Blackwall’s case and makes a discovery that connects them both to that fateful night.
