These faculties are ideally defined in the wisdom of Vedanta as Being, Consciousness, and Beatitude or Sat, Chit, Ananda. Now, when defined in depth, the essence of Being (Sat) becomes pure strength or Will; that of Consciousness (Chit) pure wisdom or Intelligence; and that of Beatitude (Ananda) pure Love; and this triad amounts to as essential and universal a name given to God as can be formulated in human language: Satchitananda. In turn, these three attributes constitute the essence of man’s faculties; and since they cannot emerge from nothing, least of all from matter, they can only be proof of a Supreme Being that possesses them originally in His very nature and hence can bestow them.”

God-consciousness is the state of acknowledging the Divine in every moment. ⁣ ⁣ It necessitates inner stillness, the space to be able to appreciate our surroundings before launching into judgements and complaints. ⁣ ⁣ The Islamic tradition is rooted in humility. We recognise that we are myopic. Our perception is limited and therefore inherently flawed. We do not know everything. We do not fully understand the consequences of our actions. We do not have the ingenuity to perfectly control our circumstances. ⁣ ⁣ When we obsess over how things will turn out, we lose touch with the moment. We are unable to witness the falling rain or the giggles of our children. ⁣ ⁣ Our obsession with the life that we want results in the life that we have being half-lived, as we unconsciously fumble through the beauty that He has created for us.⁣ ⁣ We believe in balance. One must have a purpose and must strive in the way of something meaningful. ⁣ ⁣ But when an outcome becomes the defining matter in our lives, we lose sight of the Almighty, and are no longer mesmerized by that which He creates because we are unable to see it. ⁣ ⁣ Ensure that one’s spiritual practices during the day foster a sense of awe and proximity to the Creator.

Everything that's love can't be fear, and everything that's fear can't be love. You're either in one or the other. Almost every time you turn on the television set, you're in fear. You get aligned with fear. When you're aligned with fear, instead of with God-consciousness, you just keep attracting more fear-more stuff to be afraid of, more shortages, revenge, anger, wars, killing, and disease.

Prayer

“Modern man is perplexed by the thought of talking things over with God in a purely personal way. Many have abandoned regular praying; they only pray when under unusual pressure — in emergencies. Man should be unafraid to talk to God, but only a spiritual child would undertake to persuade, or presume to change, God.

But real praying does attain reality. Even when the air currents are ascending, no bird can soar except by outstretched wings. Prayer elevates man because it is a technique of progressing by the utilization of the ascending spiritual currents of the universe.

Genuine prayer adds to spiritual growth, modifies attitudes, and yields that satisfaction which comes from communion with divinity. It is a spontaneous outburst of God-consciousness.

God answers man’s prayer by giving him an increased revelation of truth, an enhanced appreciation of beauty, and an augmented concept of goodness. Prayer is a subjective gesture, but it contacts with mighty objective realities on the spiritual levels of human experience; it is a meaningful reach by the human for superhuman values. It is the most potent spiritual-growth stimulus.

Words are irrelevant to prayer; they are merely the intellectual channel in which the river of spiritual supplication may chance to flow. The word value of a prayer is purely auto-suggestive in private devotions and socio-suggestive in group devotions. God answers the soul’s attitude, not the words.

Prayer is not a technique of escape from conflict but rather a stimulus to growth in the very face of conflict. Pray only for values, not things; for growth, not for gratification.”

Work towards making every deed, every thought, every moment prayerful

To be prayerful is to be hopeful, intention centered. Present. Conscious. Belief-filled. Aware of the limitless aspect of God.

And if the lesser emotions such as those that are limiting and fear based come, choose love and prayer again and again and again.

And then trust the flow.

That higher awakening is called God-consciousness. In that condition, you will see that all the objects of the world are your own universal self.
