Book: Embracing the Goddess Within

Author: Kris Waldherr

I first read this book while I was going to school in Canada in 2010-2011. It helped me form my first real break from Right Hand Path thinking and brought the concept of working with archetypes as a transformative tool to the forefront of my consciousness.

It's interesting to me that "Sleeping Beauty" is specifically cited here, because I have always had a love for Maleficent in the Disney version of the fairy tale. Out of all of the Disney villains, Maleficent actually did nothing wrong - she was the one who was spurned without just cause. I have always found her to be very inspiring, especially in the live action remake with Angelina Jolie.

Anyway, moving on...

This book was so influential to me specifically because of the introduction more than anything else. As a teenager and young adult, I rejected womanhood due to my Catholic upbringing. This book was the beginning of understanding that this meant I'd also rejected the divine feminine.

The final part that was very influential on me can be seen here, talking about taking control and becoming a self-determined being. It was the beginning of that journey - a journey I am still in the middle of now, 11 years later.
