Rosario Girón debía volver a casa.

El 10 de julio de 2025, Rosario se fue a trabajar por la mañana, como suele hacer. Se despidió de su marido y de sus tres hijos: Alexis (18), Melanie (14) y Mateo (7). Recogió a una amiga y se fue, como cualquier otro día. Pero, al llegar a su lugar de trabajo, vio varios vehículos del ICE. Presa del pánico, trató de alejarse, pero chocó contra uno de los vehículos.

Esa mañana, Melanie no se despidió de su madre con un abrazo.

Todas las mañanas lo hacía, pero ese día fue diferente. Estaba enfadada con ella: Rosario le había dicho que fuera a limpiar los excrementos de sus gatos, y Melanie lo había hecho a regañadientes, aunque eso la dejara frustrada. Melanie no sabía que aquella podría haber sido la última vez que la viera.

Rosario fue detenida por el ICE el 10 de julio. Justo antes, consiguió llamar a su marido y explicarle la situación. Desde entonces ha estado desconsolado, y casi debilitado. No podía trabajar.

El 11 de julio, Rosario fue enviada a Iowa. Su marido luchaba por encontrar un abogado, mientras Mateo era informado de que su madre no volvería a casa. Rosario podía llamar, pero les costaría, y sólo tenían a una persona trabajando para pagar a los cuatro, más los gastos legales.

El 14 de julio se abrió un GoFundMe en su nombre. Su comunidad eclesiástica local ha contribuido, pero aún queda mucho por hacer.

La fianza es cara, y también hay otras prioridades legales. Cuatro bocas que alimentar. Una casa. Agua caliente.

La familia de Rosario necesita tu ayuda. Con tu donación, podrán tenerla en casa el mayor tiempo posible hasta que sea, inevitablemente, deportada. Como mínimo, ayuda a Melanie a darle ese último abrazo de despedida. Ayúdales a poner todo en orden para que puedan prepararse para lo peor. Las familias no merecen ser destrozadas. Cada céntimo cuenta.
