This is a dumb post but I’ve been feeling super insecure lately.
The beauty standard rn is hourglass figure but not too much, or being insanely skinny because you look like an uwu soft girl. Tiny nose, big eyes, and big lips.
I’m not saying this is bad because if you look like this you’re absolutely beautiful and I’ll always be a tad jealous.
But if you hate the way you look because you don’t look like a tik tok model, then open a history book and realize that some of history’s most beautiful women don’t fit all these standards
Queen Victoria was seen as very beautiful in many of her subjects' eyes, and she doesn’t have anime eyes or a button nose. She had a double chin, also she was short and very chubby. Sources differ in her height but she was an estimated 5”0 at the tallest, and her average weight was 140-200 lbs. She was a thicc shortstack. She was also very respected and feared, so you smol curvy girls can intimidate people too.
Also her daughter princess Louise, who was seen as Victoria’s most beautiful child, looked almost just like Victoria and nothing like someone from Attaway General
Marilyn Monroe is well known by everyone and while I disagree with the ‘Marilyn was actually plus sized’ argument because it just isn’t true, she was still very beautiful even when not dolled up. She’s probably one of the few pin up girls I can think of that actually looked natural. Like, she was curvy but she still had fat on her stomach, her hips were big but her thighs still touched, she had small round eyes, and she had an amazing smile
Aphrodite, the goddess of LOVE AND BEAUTY was slightly chubby with a big schnoz. She had stomach rolls, regular size tiddies, and a double chin. And she was still seen as the most beautiful goddess.
Katharine Hepburn was a beauty in Hollywood, and even when petite cutesy femininity was praised, she was a strong jawed, pointy nosed, masculine beauty. She is best known for popularizing male clothing for women and is quite the feminist statement.
Frida Kahlo, a Hispanic, disabled, strong faced, strong browed woman, is seen as one of the greatest artists of her time and a beautiful woman of grace and dignity. She’s been stated as having a ‘strange and alluring beauty’
I’m going to cut it off here and I’ll probably do a part two, if you have suggestions send them plz
