im a big fan of interpreting gojo's choice to seek out megumi as not an act of altruism but as an opportunity to find someone who wont/cant leave him, given how he doesn't seek him out right away— it's only after geto leaves that he bothers to look for him

a child with a powerful technique that he can shape into an ally that relies on him and cant leave? megumi really is a blessing

dont get me wrong, i dont think it was entirely a case of seeing megumi as an object/possession, but that was definitely a motivation. and of course this becomes real attachment and care for megumi eventually

Gojo would tease Middle School!Megumi and tell him that he really has to get over his weird little crush on him. Not that it's not sweet, but it's getting a little embarassing, isn't it, Megumi-chan?

Expect hearing that hurts and Megumi takes it a little bit more serious than Gojo actually wanted him to.

Yuta is a pretty ideal crush. He's strong and caring, which matches Megumi's type; and he has little to nothing in common with Satoru aside from that. He won't be able to compare them to each other.

(No one could ever win when compared to Satoru.)

So he tries. He tries to get to know him and to like him too. It's easier than he thought, although his feelings aren't quite as romantic as he hoped for. Still, Yuta is sweet. Handsome. Megumi might just be able to make this work.
