Cilantro blossoms. These will ultimately turn into coriander seeds, which will then either become a tasty seasoning on their own, or next year's cilantro plants. Did you know that herbs come from leaves, while spices come from other parts of the plant? My aim here was to show how the seed pods were developing on this plant, but when I checked the photo, I noticed little grey spots. A closer look, and I realized all of the plants with these lovely yellow flowers were thoroughly infested with aphids. 🤔 But you can still see how the seed pods are growing. This was in with a bunch of mixed Asian greens, and I think I just realized what this is... based on pod shape and flower shape and size, I think it's a mustard plant, which means it's a Cole crop (like cabbage or broccoli) which my friendly local aphids go Gaga for this time of year. #aphids #goingtoseed #mustardplant #TheDirtOnOrganicGardening
