A brief smile crossed her features at Gwen’s question. Of course her best friend had noticed. MJ didn’t want to bother her with her problems because she knew Gwen had plenty of them, too. But it was RELIEVING that the other always managed to notice when something was wrong with her.
“It’s not much, it’s just... I heard my mom at the phone yesterday, and I’m pretty sure she was talking to my dad.” MJ explained with a sigh. “I just... I just don’t want him to come back home. It’s been years, and... you know... I don’t want him around.”

Peter’s heart almost MISSED a beat at those words. It warmed his heart more than anything else, but on the other hand, it was scary. All these months they hadn’t spoken had been hard, way too hard. He had done this to protect her, but had missed her so much it kept hurting. He had thought that without seeing her, it would help, but it didn’t. And he kept her pictures in his room, which probably didn’t help, but he couldn’t do otherwise.
“I... Yeah. Me too.” He finally managed to say before he approached her. “I don’t think there’s someone else for me. But... I know it’s complicated.” He sighed before he gently pressed his forehead against Gwen’s. “We should... I don’t know. Be friends.”

Peter couldn’t help but chuckle softly at Gwen’s words. “Yes, I did. I saw them and thought of you. I thought they suit your eyes.” He admitted kindly before he put a quick kiss on her lips. “And you see ? They’re not even messed up. They’re still pretty. I’m proud.” He teased before he laughed. Actually, he hadn’t swung at all, to make sure he didn’t ruin them, but he didn’t need to tell her about it this quickly. He just wanted her to be happy about the flowers.

MJ didn’t like when Gwen was speaking this way. It made her feel POWERLESS, and she hated it, because her best friend deserved to be comforted. She didn’t deserve to feel this way at all. So maybe she was not good at comforting someone else, but she wanted to try, more than anything else.
She wrapped her arms around Gwen, then hugged her close to her. “No, it’s not fine. You don’t deserve to feel this way.” MJ assured softly. “So you want me to at least change your mood a bit ? We can do anything you want.”

trees swaying, the hustle of student clusters... peter was lightly overwhelmed by the rather informal tour he was so kindly being led on. it only hit him as he looked around, whole body turning in different directions to see small pairs of friends talking about classes, that he missed being in school. he didn't miss the grades, homework, readings... well most of school, but he missed his friends. he missed the routine it offered during the day.

swiveling again to look in the direction the other pointed, they cracked a smile, mouth opening unsure of how to respond at first. glancing back and forth between her and the fountain, he decided it was okay to laugh, just a little. "i'm actually very interested. that happen a lot, here?"
