favorite book in the series? least favorite?

They all have something special that I love in them, but my favorite has got to be Fear. Its home of most of my favorite scenes too.

I love Penny in this, and her scene with both Cigar and Caine were amazing. And honestly Caine deserved a little humiliation. She was an amazing character in this, and I loved her fighting scenes. Her power was also very interesting, so it was nice to see it even more.

Haven't re-read the series in a while so im definitely missing certain details, but I just remember it being one of the books that I finished quick because it was so entertaining. The ending part wasn't my absolute favorite, though that may be because I disliked Diana's plot in general, but the beginning to middle was some of my favorite scenes. I liked the chaos and not knowing what comes next.

Least favorite is a bit more difficult because, again, I love all the books, but I would have to go with Lies.

I know this might be a popular pick, but the main reason I disliked it was because it felt a bit slower then the rest of the books in my opinion. Again, I still love this book but It took me the longest to read.

I have to give it props, it did have the Brittney and Drake thing, which I liked, though the mystery took so long for basically every plot. I liked what it had in store, and it had some of my favorite writing, though I forgot about alot of things after reading it.

And maybe this was me skimming the page, but I hadn't even realized Orsay had died at first. That mightve been a my bad though.

Despite all of this, I still love lies, and truly it did have some of my favorite scenes and characters. I really liked the Edilio and Howard scenes. Just in my opinion, some of the thing were forgettable. It also had my mentally yelling at my book admittedly, but maybe thats a good thing?

Hnnng I'm currently writing an au where Sam is given up for adoption instead of David, so instead of Sam Temple vs Caine Soren it's Dave Temple vs Caine Soren (bc I refuse to believe any version of Caine would go by David).

It really brings into question the nature vs nurture debate, especially since we don't get a lot of info on Caine's adoptive parents so we have no idea how much of his behavior is caused by them. I wonder, would Sam end up exactly the same (or at least very similar) to Caine, had he been raised the same way? "Obviously not" is my first answer, since everybody is different and no one reacts to trauma the exact same way, but we're making an antagonist, here.

Maybe he wouldn't be as charming, but he would use that awkwardness to his advantage? Relating to people in that "see, I'm just a normal guy, you have no reason to distrust me" way and end up as more of a popular jock type than a politician type, subtly using people's trust in him to get what he wants? In that case, would he end up allying himself more with people like Dekka instead of Drake?

Ahhh, so many possibilities.

I think part of the reason Sam became such a boring protagonist in later books is because he lost his assertiveness. In the first book that's what makes him stand out as a leader- he's the guy who takes charge in emergencies, the one who stays calm and keeps everyone together. School Bus Sam. But in the later books things just... happen to him. He doesn't take charge, he rarely makes a choice unless something forces him to.
