Just looking at this stranger has Elliot's proverbial hackles raised, wariness and uncertainty radiating off the shifter's tense frame. It doesn't help that neither have said a word and are currently locked in what could only be described as a very tense staring contest.

It's Elliot who breaks it first, out of necessity and a growing awkwardness on his side.

Wide awake.

He doesn't know how to feel about seeing his father around when he does.  He knows it's not his own father.  Not the one from his timeline, universe, he doesn't know and he doesn't care.  It's his father, and it still hurts.  It might not be the one who raised him personally, but every time he sees a version of his father, there are flashes of him on a motel bed, bleeding from several wounds, not having fought back, not wanting to hurt Sam.

His own hands red and soaked, after all that talk to his father living.  And things never being the same after that.  The broken part of his mind whispering that it was his fault after all.  That he drove him away by not fighting Alastair away.  By his father dying there, by no one to save him.

His thoughts about his father are never happy anymore.  Full of regret, of how things were starting to get okay again- and they ended with his father disappearing from a cave after a vampire hunt.

He knows it's something he'll never come to terms with.
