Seriously, Blitz is a great boss, and he has a lot to be proud of.

Just compare the kind of elevator ride that ordinary workers can afford with honest work.

And what can be afforded not just by Blitz but by his employees as well.

Heck, his employees can even afford a taxi.

I understand that this is not a daily luxury, but it is still impressive what he has achieved not only for himself but also for his team.

Don't settle for a bad boss

"All upper management is like this" "This is just what it's like working for a big company" NO. No it isn't. I work for a chain grocery store and my boss is AMAZING.

I've emailed her about making a schedule change after I missed the window and she's made the changes anyway

Heard that we get a raise after six months of working. Asked her about this (much later in) the same day I got a warning about counting transactions correctly. She was so chill both times and advocated for me to get said raise

I found a potato in the parking lot and brought it in. I asked if I could keep it, she said no because they were going to compost it. I was jokingly upset. Later mentioned it was my birthday. Went to bathroom, came back to find a balloon attached to the potato that read "Happy Birthday ____, from (boss' name) (other employee on shift's name) and potato.

She doesn't want me reading the trash pop culture magazines during down time on my shift but I don't even mind because I'm not bored around her, she jokes with me and makes work really fun

We've had disagreements (I think we've only had one right now actually) and we'll likely have more in the future, but the important thing is she cares about her employees. And we're a mix of teens, college students, and older people just looking for a part time job. She knows and remembers stuff about us, and she advocates for us. That shouldn't be a privilege, that should be a right.

There are good bosses out there. There are good jobs out there. Don't feel like you have to stick with a job that doesn't treat you well because it's not like anywhere else is better. Other jobs have caring atmospheres. Don't settle.

My boss has been a fucking champ all through my cancer. This week, I have to have a small procedure and it has to be under general anesthesia. So I asked if he could pick me up after, the phrase used is ‘responsible adult.’

He’s gone out and got a t-shirt that even says so.

*I work in IT Help to preface.We ask for small donations once or twice a year, and it says something like “has [website] improved your shooting life? If so, please consider donating! We are donation based” etc. Most help tickets come by email*

TLDR- Awesome boss allows me to tell rude customer to pound sand

This starts with one online help ticket that just says “I have a problem”. That narrows nothing down, so I ask for more details. I don’t get a reply, which isn’t unusual, so I close the ticket the next da y. 2 days later, same guy submits another ticket that also just says “I have a problem”. I again ask for more details, explaining that I can’t help if he doesn’t use his words. Crickets. Nothing. So I close the ticket. The day after that, I get a nasty email saying something along the lines of “no [website] has not improved my shooting life. I will be missing [event] because of your f***ing piece of s*** website.” He goes on to list his name/account details, and says “you build me into your f***ing system and let me know when the problem is solved”. No bro. How about instead of going off, you actually give me the details I requested?! Thankfully, my boss is amazing, and told me I could tell the guy “I’m deleting your ticket. Feel free to submit another in a more civilized tone. We asked for more details on tickets #912 and #915 and they weren’t provided. Another employee also attempted to reach out. We can’t help with an issue we don’t know about”. The guy was also too cowardly to use a real email, it was one of those “5 minute” emails. But he’s an idiot, because you might recall he gave us his account details😂😂

Say people's names

That's the best advice I can possibly give. Say people's names every chance you get. Here's why:

1. You'll remember people's names better. You won't face the embarrassment of asking someone's name twice.

2. You can validate the hell out of trans/nb people by using their chosen name

3. On a similar note you'll never fuck up anyone's pronouns

4. People will notice when you use their name. It'll make them feel seen/respected

5. People will notice when you use other people's names. They might start doing it too, or just have mad respect for you.

In general, using names makes people feel like you see them as an individual, not just part of a group. For example: "hey Tim, hi Annie, hi Jake!" Sounds like you care about the individual a lot more than "hey guys!"

If you're in a leadership role/authority position, it makes you seem friendly and approachable.

Just say people's names.
