Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card. There are many other contenders but I read it years ago, should be over it, and can still rant about it at the drop of a pin.

30. Your favourite middle grade book

(Did op become british halfway through making this list the 'u' is back) Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith; one of the only middle grade books I've liked as an adult I highly recommend it.

I think if it’s under 20k before they get together it can’t be called a slow burn, ideally at least 30-50k 🤭 pet peeve when people call something slow burn and they’re together within the first half hour of reading???
