Misogyny
read a dostoyevsky book to give my will to write a kick up the ass. can't say it worked
This took me A YEAR to finish.
ACOWAR SPOILERS
ok so i just needed to rant again about some characters cuz i love them so much but i'm just not sure about the way they're portrayed in acowar lucien: honestly, i don't even know what he did to contribute to the storyline. the ending of acomaf hinted that he would be more important, but he's gone to look for a queen that he didn't even end up finding himself for the most part of the book. honestly, i also expected more understanding about elain's situation on his behalf rhys and feyre: they did get a lot of page time and such, but there's a lot more *physical* action, as opposed to more thoughts and communication if you get what i mean. i don't think they had enough time that was special to them and memorable in terms of the entire book ya know. oh and i don't think rhys would've made that bargain (velaris), knowing how deeply it would affect mor. azriel: my shadow bat baby was definitely too - minor - for the story. and there's a clear difference from acomaf, on his feelings for mor. i'm not sure if it's just a year's worth of moriel fan fiction, but i think his feeling were just kind of glazed over. cas: dare i say this, but i think his wings healed too fast. as much as i wanted them to, i think it was too abrupt to just leave acomaf with a magnified severity of his wings for him to just show up, perfectly healed, in the beginning of acowar. additionally, there wasn't enough of cas' witty and sharp humor elain: to be completely honest, i didn't really get her that much. she was written differently almost each chapter, and the change in her behavior was difficult to follow, especially her feelings. like, is she starting to accept lucien? moving on from graysen? does she have a thing for az? i don't know, and we may never know. nesta: i quite liked her during acowar, which was a huge development from my burning hate for her at the end of acomaf. i really think she should've done more though, or is it just me. amren: i think amren was a little bit ooc. and i was kinda disappointed at her true form. it has been implied (directly stated) in the last book that it was so powerful and unstoppable and would burn the world in a sea of flame. but in the attack, i didn't even comprehend what was happening before she just ran out of power. and i have no idea how she planned out everything that happened with the king of hybern and the cauldron. there was no way she did. but if i convince myself that she did not plan that, i would have to embrace the fact that amren sacrificed feyre. despite her lack of emotion normally, the amren i conjured in my head would have never. ever. mor: ah, yes. mor. i think that, bluntly stating, sarah did a shit job portraying mor. i just wanted to make it clear that i respect and admire sarah, and she is definitely a great writer. however, i think throughout a chunk of the book, mor was written to be an emotional, powerless, and helpless girl. The Morrigan would NOT have simply admit and submit to rhys' choice, and would certainly not have just raged for a few short moments before admitting rhys was "right". i don't wanna go into detail, but i just feel that mor lost a lot of personality in this book. there's also the matter of her sexuality, which has been WAY TOO OVERLOOKED. literally, after just one page, it wasn't even mentioned again. i can't say that i have any experience, personal or what, but i don't think this properly represents, really, anything. i was disappointed in mor's character in this story. each character is so delicately and diversely crafted. i love every single one of them, and it is a shame that their individual stories and personalities were not fully explored in acowar. really, so much potential, wasted. (on a side note, i need a better resolution to acowar. aka i need MORE FANFICTION)
Mike Tufo is an amazing author! If you like humor, zombies, and family this book will be a fantastic read! I enjoyed the character full-heartedly. The mystery is what makes it the most fun between the main charcter, Michael Talbot’s son’s co-worker who hears a guiding voice in his head to the creepy zombie girl who seems to be having more going on her head than “BRAINS…!” The women in this book are strong and realistic and the family works perfectly on a whole. I enjoyed this book enough that I will eventually buy the second one because i want to find out what happens in the story and i did find the narrating humorous through the eyes of an extremely sarcastic man. Overall, about a 4 out of 5 stars read for me.
You’re not a better person for working out, or a worse person for not.
This is gonna be a long rant, no worries that's what a Read More is for.
So before I left Colorado, I made sure to set up a forwarding address with the school. I ordered the November 7th Tshirt and knew it would probably be shipped after I had left the school, wanted to make sure I got it. It was simple, I've worked at the mail room for 3 years and knew the procedure of setting up mail forwarding and turning in my key. Filled out all the forms and gave it to a old coworker of mine with a smile. Next day I received a confirmation email telling me they'll forward for 30 days, plenty of time for my shirt to arrive there and then be forwarded.
January ticks over. Its been a long time since my shirt was sent from the Bioware store. I checked the shipping information and found that it arrived at the school December 11th, damn how has it not arrived to me yet? I still have my student email even though I withdrew from the school so I sent an email to the mailing office on campus asking about my package, specifically telling them it was in the 30 day window.
Someone emails back, I can tell from the name its someone new, I've never worked with them before, they have new people handling the mailroom; great. The email consists solely of "Did you turn in your key?" Okay, that's a stupid response, what does that have to do with my package? Sounds pretty accusative, like they're claiming its missing and I obviously didn't follow protocol by turning it in. I respond with a polite "Yes, I attached it to the mail forwarding form." Like I'm suppose to, everyone attaches it to the form, and that's what I did.
Email back: "And you turned it in to RICOH mailing and copying center?" Like I'm a fucking idiot and don't know where mail comes in and out of at the fucking campus. Suffice it to say that I'm starting to get pissed that this guy just isn't telling me about my package but instead making me out to be an idiot who doesn't know how to forward her mail (I have not received any shred of mail from the school not even spam mind you). I respond with a simple one worded "Yes" because my tension is high and I want to know where my shit is that I paid for.
The fucking guy finally tells me what I wanted to know. Apparently RICOH MAILING and copying center does not forward packages. What part of that entire name did I not get? You even repeated it to me that you are a MAILING center. He claims they do not forward packages due to the cost. You are a MAILING CENTER it does not cost you, and if it does you should be required to forward package because hey ITS FUCKING MAIL! I worked there for 3 years and I always forwarded mail, it was also very simple to to, you stick a new label over the old and put it back in the bin to be mailed out. THAT'S IT THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL COST YOU ARE A POST OFFICE SERVICE CENTER! Suffice it to say, I was pissed because this guy was essentially lying to me and using cost as an excuse, if it were the case you think they would have mentioned that when I signed up for forwarding or when I got the confirmation email; nada.
So my shirt is somewhere, no fucking clue. He tells me to give it a bit because they sent the package back during the break and because it was the holidays it might not have arrived back to Bioware. ITS BEEN A MONTH YOU DIPSHIT IT WON'T TAKE THAT LONG. I vividly but calmly express my anger in my return email saying simply that I would have preferred to be notified of this sudden change in "policy" regarding forwarding and how inconvenient this is for me. I thank him for his time though. He never responds back.
Jump to Bioware Store customer service, once I found out that the dipshit RTSed my package, I contacted them asking them if they got it in their warehouse because I think some companies just never notify people of something like that. I explain my predicament with my package not being forwarded. I got a response the other day saying the package came into their warehouse before my email and unfortunately they refused the package, not a fault on them its policy. Great, so my package is headed back to the dipshit that says he won't send it to me, plus my 30 day window is gone. Bioware tells me that once they get it back after it being RTSed for the 2nd time, they will send it to the new address where I'm at. Awesome... though you know how fucking long that will take? I ordered this damn thing back in NOVEMBER.
Complained with a friend at the old school about this shit, telling her my package is headed back there and I have to wait so much longer to get the damn thing. She offers to pick up the package and forward it to me because the mail center doesn't MAIL SHIT ANYMORE. Sweet, I start up an email to the mail center again, though the chances of doing that are slim, I want to make an attempt to trying and get my fucking stuff sooner rather than 2 months from now.
Suffice it to say, the email I sent has a very calm demeanor in its request but all throughout it I can imagine blood dripping from the letters because you can just taste the hate and aggravation from it. It has an Umbridge sort of feel to it, you know from Harry Potter? Sweet and giddy with kitties but within lies a cold hearted bitch that would love to watch you bleed. Can't wait to see their response.
Stayed awake to finish up this book, now I have to deal with the consequence of attempting to get some rest while the sun is out 😩
