The job search thing is going so much better this time. I already had two interviews and have a third planned out. I strongly suspect I will get a fourth later this month. And except the first one (which I didn't ultimately get) all of them are forensic!
PSA: It really is way easier to get a job if you already have one (that is paid, not volunteering).

Time heals (most) wounds
I emailed a prof to tell him I was sick and wouldn't be at class and his response was basically like "that's okay" and then he added "I'm giving the exams back on Thursday but wanted to say that one of your 'gobbet' [essentially passage identification] responses was one of the best I've ever read. So well done." OH MY GOD I THOUGHT I DID BADLY ON THAT PART AND THEN HE ADDED THE GREEK FOR "feel better soon" BECAUSE HE ALSO TEACHES GREEK I LITERALLY JUST FELL OUT OF MY CHAIR AND ROLLED ON THE FLOOR. Leafs/Panthers recap
Well it was super fun obviously because the Leafs owned the Panthers. Not on the shot chart but the scoreboard is what counts. Also, Reimer is fucking awesome and anyone who says otherwise is stupid.
So the most obvious thing is, HOLY SHIT OUR LINEUP LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER WHEN WE HAVE HOCKEY PLAYERS AND NOT GOONS. The Frattin/Colborne/MacArthur line had some awesome hustle tonight and even contributed a goal. I like Komarov/McClement/Orr as a line too, though I'd rather see Bozak in the lineup on the third line and Orr completely out.
Which brings me to my next point, how fucking good was the Leafs top line of Kessel/Kadri/Lupul? They connected for two goals (the 2 on 1 with Kadri and Kessel was just a fucking beauty. There's no way Bozak makes that pass connect.) Awesome chemistry between those three. I ALSO LOVE THAT GRABOVSKI GOT ACTUAL LINEMATES INSTEAD OF PLUGS OMG. He was flying tonight. He didn't put up any points but you could see that extra jump in his step. Kulemin and JVR I think make perfect wingers for him and I hope we see more of that in the playoffs.
Kostka still sucks. Gardiner please and thank you.
Gotta love Fraser coming in to stick up for Kadri too. That's what the enforcer is supposed to do but Fraser did it instead. He isn't the team's best defenseman but I do love what he brings as a 5-6th d-man on a super cheap contract.
So as the playoffs loom, I would like to see the following lineup:
Kessel/Kadri/Lupul JVR/Grabovski/Kulemin Frattin/Bozak/MacArthur Komarov/McClement/Colborne
Gunnarsson/Phaneuf Franson/Gardiner Liles/Fraser
Reimer Scrivens
I mean I don't like seeing Colborne so low on the depth chart but he has to earn his keep too. He is way better than Orr or McLaren though so I'd see him get some ice time and I wouldn't mind throwing him the occasional power play shift depending on what is happening. He's a HUGE body so if we plant him in front of the net he could do awesome things for us.
The defense is A LOT more mobile without O'Byrne in the lineup so I would like to see that continue.
Fucking Winnipeg lost though so we can't get home ice advantage which sucks but we can still play the Habs in the first round which hasn't happened since 1979 so that would be super exciting and fun for everyone.
