Paris was silent. Maybe it was the afterglow of the battle, maybe it was because there was peace for once. After years of cautiousness, the people could finally rest. Above all else, there was hope. Everyone was relieved. They were celebrating.
Except for a handful of people. Teenagers, some would say. A select few would even call them children. Everyone called them heroes.
Surely they were relieved too? That they do not have to fight anymore, and suffer injuries and injustice daily. That they do not have to worry about a man who sacrificed everything for his wife, but lost everything in the end.
The people didn’t know that the heroes were heavily grieving. The day of the final battle wasn’t a celebration for them. It was a day of mourning. For a hero. For a son. For a classmate. But most importantly,
it was for their friend, Adrien.
Every year, while Paris held their celebration, a few people would always walk around the streets, with a forlorn look on their faces. They never said why.
Paris was saved. The world was saved. But at a great cost.
Most of Paris would never know to the extent the mystery of it. But one thing was made clear.
It was the year anniversary of the battle. Ladybug was asked to speak. She only said one thing.
“Adrien Agreste was gone because he wanted to stop his father. If there is a hero that has yet to be honored… it’s him. There wouldn’t be a ladybug without him.”
Ladybug made sure Paris knew that.
Gabriel was demonized in the media, but his son’s reputation was elevated.
Adrien was given a statue and was placed in front of the torn down agreste manor.
Ladybug would visit it everyday.
