one — when did your mage’s magic first manifest?

when he was eleven years old. it happened when he was pretty much half-asleep: he woke up from a nightmare and got a little panicky, thinking there was some sort of monster or assassin in his room, and he got so agitated that he lit the blanket on fire without meaning to. he managed to put it out quickly, but not before the tamassran heard him yelp and ran in to see what was happening. he tried to convince her (and himself) that it had just been some sort of freak accident, some spark or static electricity — but she was pretty sure what had happened, and when he started patting the burnt edges of the blanket and leaving little shards of ice, that was pretty much confirmation enough.

     HE is not sure why he feels worry festering in the pit of his stomach, but it’s there & seems determined to stay. So, with steady hands, Vunrr ladles up a bowl of stew and wanders over to where Calla rests, sitting down on a nearby log. The stew is offered after a moment or two of contemplation.
