Round One, First Half: Aquamarine "Aqua" Hoshino (Oshi no Ko) VS Arthur Lester/John (Malevolent)

Arthur/John
Propaganda under the cut:
a family bigger than 4! part 5.
part 1 / part 2 / part 3 / part 4 / side story 1
I did mention Gorou has a really important role earlier, right? In this story, he's the one who's helped the two reconcile. Who else would deliver the child other than him? He's a good soul.
next..would probably be some wholesome slice-of-life things(finally getting to those ;v; haha)
I've seen the argument that Oshi no Ko would work just the same/better as a story without the reincarnation element, and for a while I tossed around the pros and cons of this idea before finally coming to the conclusion that OnK absolutely needs the reincarnation plotline, because at the end of the day, Aqua Hoshino is a thirty-something year old man who's an obsessive idol otaku shoved into the body of an eighteen-year-old boy and is both unable and refuses to move on from the death of a twenty-year-old girl, and it really shows.
I don't care if it's fiction or not. I feel I need to say this.
No matter how you dice it, Aquruby is a gross ship because they are siblings. Sarina x Gorou is also a gross ship because Sarina is 12 and Gorou is in his late 20s to early 30s. There's also the power dynamic of a doctor and his patient. Aqua nor Gorou feel the same as Ruby and Sarina. People usually like to cover their ears and ignore these factors.
Before you go, "Well Gorou said he'd marry Sarina when she's 16." and while I don't condone it, does anyone not consider that he just told her this to amuse her, his cancer stricken patient? Again, not the best response to her infatuation. With him. In chapter 142, it's shown that Aqua is clearly uncomfortable with kissing Ruby to the point where he tries to de-escelate the kiss scene in the movie.
Don't get me wrong, it is very clear that Aqua loves Ruby. But here's the very important part. He loves her as his sister. Nothing more. Sorry, I know I sound heated with this but I'm genuinely tired of people trying to justify either of these ships. People are free to ship what they like but what I don't agree with ignoring the established canon. Aka Akasaka is a very polarizing mangaka for good reason, but my point still stands.
