I’ve been thinking about all the (seemingly endless) possibilities today and even though it sounds like a cop out, I honestly cannot figure out how this is going to go.
In saying that, there are a few events that I could see playing out. I’ve landed firmly on the theory that Senior will be the unexpected death. Like many others I think it’ll be when he answers the door at Tony’s apartment. This will in turn mean that Tony doesn’t go to Israel I think, the whole idea of ‘family first’ (which I think will have a double meaning at some point potentially) coming into play here as he needs to stay in DC to find his father’s killer and organise the funeral etc. I just want to point out that this is not what I want to happen, but rather what I can see happening.Â
As for the whole case etc, I really have no idea what will happen there but I can see Ziva getting in touch with Tony at some point to let him know she’s ok. And I guess there are two options I can see from here - either we get a Tiva happy ending of sorts, or an implication that will be the case, or else she’s happy and fine and moved on and that makes Tony happy to move on in his life knowing that she’s ok. I could see them leaving us hanging until the very last moment and then suddenly his phone/computer/something lights up and it’s Ziva and he smiles and *phoof*, it’s left up to us to decide/assume whether means they got their happily ever after.
The thing is, even putting obsessed shipper me aside, this set up of Tony being frantically worried and distressed about Ziva makes me hope that he ends up having some meaningful type of engagement with her at some point, preferably where feelings are requited, because I can’t see how his character will go from who we’ve seen in those sneak peeks to being on his own and leaving his NCIS family and still be ok. I’m not saying that the only ending in which he could be happy is with Ziva, but those sneak peeks certainly make it seem like being with her would be a priority for him.Â
Which I guess brings me to my next little point and that is that whatever happens, I will be truly and utterly heartbroken if Tony exits in any way broken. If he loses his father and doesn’t end up with Ziva and decides to leave because he needs to find himself or something - ok, fine, a totally legitimate reason for leaving but for once I want a character, especially one with as complex a journey as Tony, to get the happy ending, not the bittersweet-makes-sense-but-also-kinda-sad ending.Â
So I don’t really know if this has answered your question at all, I have those few little theories but none on the way this will all end. As I keep saying, I just hope it does Tony’s character justice, he is my favourite character and I just want to know that he gets what he wants in life.
