The Only Universe I Know, chapter 10
"Is it time to die yet?"

"feldspar, that's your favourite shirt..."
a new little star ✨
this is a drawing i made of a baby jasper and their guardians on a starry night <3
Thinking about gosspar in my Galaxy AU. Something's not entirely right with Feldspar, but Gossan doesn't care. They have them back now. They're together again. And Gossan will keep convincing themself that nothing is wrong because nothing can be wrong. Their world already ended once, it can't end again.
But Feldspar keeps sneaking off during patrols. They keep making suggestions that don't make sense to Gossan. Why would you want to cut down the number of patrols? That would only make the Bramble spread further. They don't act like they used to. It's as if something else is inhabiting their body. But it's still Feldspar, right? Even if they say things that Gossan can't make sense of? Even when they don't move like they used to?
And nothing's wrong, right? We're okay? You'd tell me if something was wrong, wouldn't you?
And Feldspar lies. They'll lie and they'll lie over and over again because as long as they don't face it, they can be okay. Things will stay the same.
But the Bramble never stops growing. It'll always be there, destroying more and more planets beyond recognition of what they once were. And you can't go back. You've made your mistakes. You've made your choice. You've let your universe fall to pieces. And how could you even begin to pick up the parts? They don't fit together anymore. They're not the same as they once were. And ultimately, you know that it was your fault. You could have stopped this, but you chose your own greed and selfishness and hunger and now everyone—everyone is paying that cost.
Even if space is full of danger, Gossan won't stop them. Cause hearthians were born to reach the stars.
