Doodledex - #430 Honchkrow
Remember how I brought up yesterday that Honchkrow, who happens to come after Mismagius in the National Dex, also needed a Dusk Stone to get this way? Well, I’d forgotten that Murkrow and Misdreavus are also right next to each other... just in the opposite order! Neat!
As its name pun implies, to Murkrow its evolution is the head honcho of the flock. Honchkrow doesn’t really do any of its own dirty work... it makes its Murkrow... uh, cronies (ugh... “crow-nies”) do it instead, under the threat of punishment if they fail. (It’s kinda fitting that you see a talking Murkow in Team Rocket’s ownership before its evolution’s revealed to be a mob boss!)
#pokemon#doodledex#honchkrow#got a couple of notes here...#first of all it amused me that when ultra moon's entry talks about how honchkrow doesn't do its own dirty work#the exact phrasing was that it doesn't 'dirty its hands' with it#i understand that it's a metaphor#but also it's a BIRD#...anyways...#another interesting note is that honchkrow was the first pokemon shown using the move defog in the anime!#what this move does is lower the target's evasion as well as clear away entry hazards and other 'special effects'#but it was also a move usable outside of battle in gen 4 along the lines of flash#and of course cleared away fog#...except you don't ever really NEED to clear up fog#so this move immediately went back to being in-battle only in the next gen
