I hate the sentence "Roberts rebellion was built on a lie"

No. The show runners literally don't know the source material If they think that.

Rhaegar was still insulting three great Houses at once with his behavior (martell, Stark, Baratheon)

His behavior that led to deaths of Rickard and Brandon

Which lead to calls for Robert and Neds heads

Which lead to the rebellion.

And the Mad king was talking about a full on genocide?

There is no lie. The rebellion was inevitable.

I think writers sometimes want mic drop worthy lines of dialogue and it really doesn't work half of the time. it also feels like nobody thinks too deeply on things, and its annoying as an audience, especially ones loyal to the subject matter. Which yes isn't everything but like we've seen in HOTD, it falls apart quickly if there isn't much order to anything.

Taking for example, Rhaenys x Alicent's conversation about desiring the throne..like no..she never has. It was weird.

One thing the show got right, one thing it got wrong

This is a question that I could go off on if I’m not careful 😅.

I think a lot of the first three seasons (and much of the 4th) were well done for an adaptation. You can tell Martin was involved.

But the reunion of Jon and Sansa in season 6 (however you view the undertones) is still the most beautiful moment in the entire show which they gave the proper tone and gravity since the Starks are the heart of this story. The music, the touch of suspense initially, the acting and directing was superb. I’ve watched reaction videos of that episode where men are sobbing over it.

Things they got wrong…forgetting that the Starks are the fucking heart of the story too often to name.

GoT 8x01 predictions

So, we know 8x01 will have some similarities to the pilot.

From the trailers so far we’ve seen:

Jon’s arrival with Dany & Co. mirroring Robert & The Lannisters.

Sansa even quotes her father saying “Winterfell is yours”

Although we don’t see anybody kneeling like they did upon Roberts arrival 👀

Other events from the pilot that could parallel 8x01:

We saw Uncle Benjen in 1x01, and learned he’s a member of The Nights Watch. He died saving Jon in S7 (Yes, he was the hero. Not Dany) Maybe we see him amongst the AOTD. Just like in the pilot when the night watch desserters had seen a white walker.

Sansa watching Joffrey ride into WF and Robb noticing. Maybe she can’t keep her eyes off Jon and Arya or Bran can’t help but notice.

The Broken Tower - that’s where Bran saw Jaime & Cersei doing the nasty. I’m thinking this is where Jon & Sansa may get a moment alone to talk in private, where we will probably see a very tension and emotionally fuelled exchange....someone will witness this, my guess is Tyrion, he knows all to well the telltale signs between siblings cousins.

In the crypts of WF we learned the fate of Lyanna Stark in 1x01 and that “all the targaryens are gone” maybe this is where Jon learns his true parentage or where he goes after learning.

In 1x01 Arya shot the arrow into the target and impressed the boys. I’m thinking Jon will be more than impressed by her new skills.

The Stark kids got their direwolf pups (I’m still crying over their deaths 💔) maybe Nymeria returns & reunites with Ghost and everyone.

That’s all I’ve thought of so far, of course these are purely speculation. What are your thoughts got fam?

Jon name change?

People are talking about if Jon Snow will change his name/surname after the reveal etc...

I can see it going 2 ways:

1. He will remain Jon Snow, no change at all (most likely) 

2. He will remain Jon Snow for friends/family, but for political/tactical reasons he will either take on his birth name (Aegon Targaryen) or only change his last name to Targaryen for Westeros 

(i do not know why some people think he will change his name to Stark? he has no right to that name law-wise and secondly he refused Stannis about the same thing... like it wouldnt fit his story at all!)

It's just so funny that both Arya and Sansa have more big dick energy than Jon.

so you dont care for dany or you straight up dont like her. and if you choose to answer, can you explain why ? also, if you think this will start discourse, than just ignore. Im just curious, and love talking GOT so

Nah I don’t think this will start discourse, most people already are not fans of Dany at the moment (of what I’ve seen) or at least her portrayal in the show and I don’t blame them. This is sorely on the writing of the show, because the books are totally different in that regard and I think that’s a huge pity. 

But just sticking to the show... yeah dany hasn’t grown really since season 1, yeah she has come far and she cared so much about saving slaves and that’s awesome, but as a whole her character hasn’t developed much from savior and ruler and I’m a Targaryen so you should bow to me just because... her worldview is just so narrow, it seems like she doesn’t understand.

If we’re gonna compare her with another ruler who has grown and changed and learned so much, Sansa, like I would take Sansa anyday. ALLTHOUGH, I still didn’t like her until this season because God last season was terrible writing and totally dumbed down Littlefinger so that she could look like a total badass... (God last season was just horrible) but it STILL is believable because I think she’s been though worse and still managed to survive and learn. Get a broader aspect of how exactly the world works. We see more development in Sansa throughout all the show than Dany.

So anyways, yeah I don’t care about her... I’m so tired of her all high and mighty attitude, bow to me or die, I’m the ruler period, specially last season?? Like all the charisma she had in the 3rd season at least was somewhat noble but now??  meh. And that GOD AWFULL “romance” she has with Jon, like NOPE. the cringe is strong. I mean I understand that the writing in the show has just dumbed down to pure action cringe to me and I no longer care. I mostly just watch out of curiosity to see how else are they going to ruin these characters (Jamie, Cersei, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Euron, Arya) and get it over with. 

But now in regards of Game of Thrones... I’m mostly here for the memes now.
