I have a theory why Charlie always talks about spiders, ghouls and rape back to back. While he was getting raped as a kid by his uncle he spotted a spider and focused on it spinning its web to disassociate from the trauma. He doesn’t remember the actual event but he subconsciously always ends up talking about spiders because it was a focal point.The ghoul part is to dehumanize his abuser to better deal with the trauma and inadvertently point out he did have an attacker.

•Edit•. charlie also related to the spider and it's fragility in life and the web it was spinning. It took all day to weave it and survive but in an instance it could be destroyed just like Charlie as a kid. Thus the song in season 9 "there is a spider, its deep in my soul. It's lived there for years, it just won't let go. He's laying around, he's got a mean bite. Now he's ready to fiiiight"
