Dan Panosian - Gotham City Garage
Otto Schmidt, Poison Ivy
Gotham City Garage #20
The fact that this cover exists still feels like a fever dream
Another blast from the past from my files, this double page spread was from Gotham City Garage!
I only did this one spread in this book, and this was also done back when I was still trying to get a handle on digital color. I didn't know how to use flats, so everything was colored the hard way by coloring in the lines by hand!
It's OK to laugh.
But I really like this style, and consider this look a tribute to George Perez. I would have loved to have colored some of his work.
You can find the trade paperback here.
mm.. top 5 alternate DC runs? i.e. DCeased, vs vampires, beastworld, etc?
With those parameters, focusing primarily on limited runs and Elseworlds, in no particular order...
Gotham by Gaslight
Both the animated movie and the comic run. I haven't read The Kryptonian Age or A League for Justice yet but I'm a sucker for a good period piece and am actively writing a fic for the movie-verse as we speak so clearly it makes the cut! Also as the First Official Elseworld (emphasis on official) it has a special place in my heart and DC history.

The Absolute Universe
Especially Absolute Wonder Woman, but the whole universe. It's so extremely good, as most stories are when the people telling them clearly have Things to Say. They are the only current comics runs that I am reading. The art for each run is uniquely gorgeous and the actual content of the stories themselves is extremely relevant for the world that we live in today. I'm super excited for the moment when Bruce and Diana successfully acquire Kal/Clark, I have the feeling it will likely resemble a kidnapping. This is another one I'm writing fic for at the moment. Technically this is an ongoing series but I think it counts, since it's not mainline.

Gotham City Garage
It's just fun. It's messy and it's so out of left field in the best possible way. Was 10000% made (and the figurines it was based off of) to capitalize off people being horny about Mad Max: Fury Road and I don't even care. A fun Kara-centric adventure with only 12 issues so it's an easy read.

Convergence
I haven't read all of the tie-ins but the ones that I have I've generally enjoyed, and Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle was the first DC comic I owned physically. (I have since lost the issue, but I was recently able to replace it which has been lovely.) Convergence Walked so Death Metal could Run. Or Ran so Death Metal could Walk, I haven't read DM so I can't speak to that. Also just on a meta level, as badly as its been handled at times I really enjoy the approach DC takes to the multiverse as a whole. Also the Convergence main run deeply disrespected Injustice in issue #1 which I wholeheartedly support.

Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham
An Elseworld from 1999 that is objectively terrible but its also just so wild. The tldr is that its a role reversal AU, with Selina as Catwoman, defender of Gotham City, and Bruce as the Batman, murderer and thief. Does it suffer from a severe case of "that's not how women's spines work"? Absolutely. Does the Catmobile fuck? Objectively.
Does it have my Least Favorite Joker Design of All Time in it? Unfortunately. However he is brutally murdered by Batman like, ten pages in so it's fine. Also Selina should have paid a visit to Planned Parenthood and yeetused that fetus at the end and they were lazy making her parents Thomas and Martha too but I'll allow it. Also also instead of a butler named Alfred, Selina has a Sexy MaidTM named Brooks (who is absolutely in love with Selina and also is there to get horrifically murdered) so...do with that info what you will.

Honorable Mention to Red Son, which I don't really like but does hold the distinction of being the first physical comic I held in my own two hands and read from beginning to end. (It was in a basket next to the chair I was sitting in while hiding at a social function) It captivated me at the time and, while I would not credit it for my descent into DC (my DCent if you will) It absolutely planted some seeds.

This was a really fun ask, thank you!
