Just finished the Gotham Pilot.
It was an okay episode but nothing that special. It gave some sin city vibes but without the same promise or interest. Basically it left me a little bit unimpressed. It was nothing that good but nothing that bad either. Campy and cheesy and even corny at some parts, solid at some others.
The visuals of the city were pretty good but the pacing and the acting were problematic at many parts. The writing in general could have been better but it wasn't that bad either. The dialogue could have been better.
As for the plot of the pilot. They threw too much in it and too much foreshadowing for a show that is never going to be about Batman but basically a cop show prequel of shorts, less modern more neo noir-ish (sort of).
It is too early to judge overall and I will give it a fair shot but if I were to judge by the show's first look I don't think it will stick with the audience that much. And it is on Fox which doesn't put it exactly in a safe position (considering all the cancellations this network is known to pass around lol)
However as I said it is too early to judge overall and maybe the show will get better in the next episodes because a mediocre premiere could lead to more solid and even great episodes (it has happened before). The show does have some promise. Let us see how this will work out in the end.
