Headcanon: Damian Wayne Talks to Animals Like He’s a Total Boss
Okay, hear me out—Damian Wayne? He talks to animals. But not in that typical “baby voice” or anything cutesy. No, no. Damian has no time for that. He’s an assassin and a Wayne, so when he communicates with animals, he does it with all the cool, collected energy of a professional.
Imagine Damian, standing tall, his eyes locking with a stray cat or a bird perched on a nearby ledge. Instead of saying, “Here, kitty, kitty,” he calmly states, “You’re well aware of your surroundings, aren’t you? I can tell by how you sit. I respect that.” Very serious tone.
He might even say something like, “You’re a guardian of this street, I assume? You would make a fine ally if I needed one.” No “meow-meow” nonsense. Just straight-up respect.
The best part? The animals respond. Somehow. They understand that Damian isn’t just some kid trying to act cute. He’s Damian Wayne. And they respect that. Whether it’s a crow, a dog, or the infamous Batcow, they get it.
One time, Damian actually had an entire conversation with a stray dog he found while out on patrol. “You know, I could use a good ally. You’d fit right in. But do you understand the concept of discretion?” The dog’s tail wagged slowly, as if in approval. It was the most composed animal interaction Gotham had ever witnessed.
Dick once caught him talking to a pigeon in the park and he couldn’t help but chuckle. “You know, D, you don’t have to make them think you’re the Batman of animals,” he teased. “But—well, it’s actually working.”
Damian just gave him a look, "Do not test my abilities, Grayson. If I wanted that pigeon to deliver a message, it would know exactly how to do so. Efficiently."
Tim once tried to talk to a squirrel the way Damian did, but it just ran off. "I guess the squirrel doesn’t respect your authority, Tim,” Damian teased with a smug grin, clearly reveling in the fact that only he had earned the trust of Gotham's finest wildlife.
So yeah, Damian talks to animals. But he does it like a boss—no nonsense, all serious. They respect him because he respects them. No “baby talk” here.
