“Not Like Other Girls”

I completely understand how stupid and annoying the “I’m not like other girls” trope is, but I want to offer another viewpoint: POC girls in white-dominated environments. We are NOT like the other girls. We often DO NOT fit in. We are different, we are unique, and we are valid if we want to celebrate our differences. You wanna go full-on “ethnic” and celebrate your heritage in traditional dress? Go for it! You wanna highlight your differences by wearing deliberately non “ethnic” outfits (like me)? That’s awesome!
