The Gothmother gives advice on how to be goth offline, or, as she puts it, an "analog goth."
My latest video is a special for Pride Month: a discussion of the book Gothic Queer Culture: Marginalized Communities and the Ghosts of Insidious Trauma by Lauren Westengard. This book is more about Gothic literature and general Gothicism in narrative media over music, but I think it is still relevant to the subculture.
If any of you are interested in purchasing this book or following the author on social media, there are links to do so in the video description.
Angela Benedict released another video yesterday that I think is a wonderful followup to "The Fashion Goths are Taking it Too Far."
On the internet, the goth subculture is categorized into different hyper-specific subgenres of fashion. While I don't believe this is a bad thing, in my experience it has led me to feel like I was "less goth" because I didn't have the big, teased hair or elaborate makeup featured in the trad goth style. I felt like I didn't fit in because I didn't want to don this aesthetic. I thought the teased hair and makeup looks were too feminine for my taste. As a goth guy, a lot of the outfits online and sold by fast fashion outlets didn't seem catered to people who wanted to keep a more masculine look.
I respect people dressing however they want, but the audacious fits popularized by Tiktok, Instagram, and the like did not personally resonate with me.
People would tell me that "I don't look goth" or that I should opt for the more traditional style worn in the 80's. Social media often has unrealistic expectations for how people and alternative subcultures should look. Goth isn't a look. It's a mindset, a spirit, an appreciation for the macabre, an enthusiasm for the dark, poetic music that brings us together.

I forgot to post last week’s video on here, oops! Anyway, this one is an unboxing of the Coraline bendy doll that I never thought I’d get to own in my life time but then they were re-released! I love this figure so much 💙
Talking about goth music from throughout Latin America.
I'm making a bunch of playlists compiling the videos I've made of bands from certain countries and of certain subgenres (if there are at least two that apply so far) so people can more easily find what they're specifically interested in. Warning: a lot of my older videos had abysmal sound editing.
Nice! I hit over 900 subscribers! Thank you for your follows!
Sorry I haven't been as active as I have been in previous years (grad school is a bitch), but there is more coming soon for Halloween season.
