for the string player having problems with the stand partner not wanting to turn the page: if my music is only three pages or has an awkward page turn i always make a photocopy of the music and tape it together. that way you can eliminate page turns or turn the page during long periods of rest. i hope it all works out!

I want to start a blog for musicians but I have no idea how to get started and get people to learn about it. Any tips?

Hm. Well, as long as you have a sort of loose idea (mine was just situations that string players might find themselves in, like this blog was literally born over the fact that I chipped my rosin) and a means to achieve it, the sky's the limit! Musicians are a pretty exclusive group on here (and there are currently around 2.5k of you following me on here which just blows my mind you guys are awesome) and I feel like we spread things pretty quickly among our musician friends if we find something really funny that applies to us. So give it a shot! If things aren't successful, think about your execution of the idea. I know at first this blog wasn't too successful because I didn't tag things, but once I started tagging things and sharing some of the posts with my friends on Facebook and other places, the blog started to spread.

I have a 3 page song in orchestra and my stand partner refuses to take the music out of the folder so she won't have to turn the page. It looks really unprofessional. And she turns it like, 6 measures early and it makes me so confused so I just sit there pretending to pizz. I tell her this and she just gets all bitchy about it. What do I do? What can I say to her to make her understand?

Oh man oh man. Does she have those 6 measures memorized? If she doesn't, tell her that it'll be more beneficial to the both of you if she turns the page later.

The more passive aggressive approach would be for you to turn the page earlier than she does, and have her deal with it. But I don't think that's necessarily a good idea...

Any other suggestions?
