11 years a #home - a week to turn it back into a house. On the last of it now, spent Christmas Day cleaning walls and ceilings and cleaning carpet. I’m exhausted, everything has been twice as hard and twice as expensive due to the time of year (fuck you, #gougers ), and I won’t hear from a real estate about my applications for at least a week. This has been a lonely journey, and a fucken hard slog. If it wasn’t for Jaco Bassman and a neighbourhood acquaintance, precious Jacki, I would have given up and let the real estate win. NEVER let people leave stuff at your place without a written agreement on length of stay and what you can do with the stuff if the people disappear. I have heard EVERY sob story under the Sun and it’s always been those same people that have caused me grief, cost me money and ripped me off. I have learned that some people are just #takers, although they wear the mask of the self-sufficient. And #ihavelearned that people will #promise you anything until they get what they want, then they will change the terms to suit themselves. I have learned #boundaries and how to stick to them. I have learned #idontcare if people like me. I have learned to #sayno and mean it (because many people see ‘no’ as an opportunity to wheedle), and I have learned that I NEVER want to be #trapped anywhere ever again. Not #financially not #geographically, not #contractually. I walk away tomorrow and this is all #gone .
