I have to admit I’ve never particularly liked Clary in the books, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with her bc she annoyed me A Lot but I still cared enough to defend her against misogynistic haters. Tv!Clary though is so…dull…she lost all the fire Clary had which was the main thing I appreciated about her, and as sweet and beautiful as Kat McNamara is (who is in fact one of my girl crushes) she either can’t act for the life of her or she isn’t done any favors by the script writers?

On the other hand I absolutely loved book!Jace, he was one of my favorite book characters ever. I felt for him, cried for him, enjoyed every second of his angst and agony and internal conflict. And there has been none of that in the show so far. I understand that tv adaptations need to make changes, but why, why the insta-love. Why go with the classical Girl Meets Boy story when you could have actual depth and development and conflict. Where is Jace’s unwillingness to let anyone in? Where is Clary working to break through that? Where is Jace realizing that oh shit he’s actually falling for this girl for reasons he can’t even explain and all the harshness and hidden insecurity that comes with it, after being raised to always shrink away from those feelings?

How is finding out he and Clary are related going to have any impact on them if we haven’t been shown any of their struggles with accepting their feelings for each other and trusting each other and establishing any kind of emotional bond? If there is no weakness to be exploited by Valentine or emotional odds at stake to make people care?

I will! I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it today, since it’s already past 10pm and I have to work all day tomorrow, but Sunday at the latest! :)
