UPDATE
Sorry about the lack of updates here- I was swamped with a class/work and misplaced the password for a bit.
If you would like to follow us more closely I would suggest these options:
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GQMKE
Twitter: https://twitter.com/GenderqueerMKE
Milwaukee Queer Exchange:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1506389056244055/
We will be having our next discussion on Wednesday January 21st (6-730pm) which will be called "Something to talk about" where we'll discuss potential topics for the coming year. More event details will be posted soon.

Do you have any advice on running a clothing swap? I'd like to get something like that going in my area.
We pretty much just picked a space/time and promoted it.
Our guidelines were based on the swap put together by Genderqueer Chicago https://www.facebook.com/events/547571518681917/
Which became: https://www.facebook.com/events/259032714220704/
Here’s the review of our swap: http://genderqueermke.tumblr.com/post/97062105448/genderqueer-milwaukees-end-of-summer-clothing-swap-in
If anyone has ideas for improving upon the queer clothing swap events in the future I’d love to hear them.

Ch-ch-changes
As the number of people who are interested in our discussions grow so has our need to find a larger space to accommodate all of the new faces.
Outwords Books has treated us very well over the last few years but unfortunately it doesn't have the space necessary for us to expand- so this week we are excited to announce that we will be having our first discussion at People's Books in Riverwest. Our association with Outwords Books is not over though- one of our members is currently in the process of organizing an "all gender" book discussion for the fall that will more-than-likely find its home at the inviting LGBT landmark (email us if you are interested in being involved btw). In the meantime be sure to show Outwords your appreciation by liking their page on Facebook and, of course, by continuing to enjoy their coffee and peruse their stacks.
We look forward to seeing you at our new venue tomorrow!

100th post update!
Oh hey.
We've somehow made 100 of these and accumulated nearly that many followers. Maybe it's time for a little update? Here goes:
This is the Tumblr for Genderqueer Milwaukee which is a free and open community group whose mission is to ONE: bring people together to talk and think about gender in new ways TWO: Increase visibility of gender variant people THREE: Educate the larger Milwaukee community on issues of importance to people in the gender variant community. We can be found on Facebook here> https://www.facebook.com/GQMKE
This blog is just another way for us to be a part of our community. We use it to share news and events that may be of interest gender variant people in the Milwaukee area (like the vote to protect gender identity/expression on the county level). If you have news, events or suggestions we would love to hear about them. We can be contacted here, on Facebook and by email at [email protected]
GQMKE currently holds two discussions a month. One on the first Wednesday and one on the third Wednesday of the month (This upcoming Wednesday is a meeting!). We are always looking for topic ideas and welcome all suggestions. We try to share posts pertinent to the topic here in the lead up to the discussion to help get the conversation started ahead of time.
We are also in the process of putting together additional events starting with a community clothing swap that will be scheduled in the next few months. Pridefest is also fast approaching and we will have a booth there if you'd like to come by and say hi.
Thanks for following us and make sure to message us with your news and events as well your suggestions for the future of GQMKE. What do you think we should be doing? Let us know!

Q: When? A: Wednesday April 23rd, 6:45pm-8pm
Q: Where? A: Outwords Books 2710 N Murray Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211
Welcome to GQMKE 2365! Pick out your best body from the closet and make the short trip (.000000001 milliseconds by sporelaunch) to our safer space/xombie shielded enclosure just beyond the mountains of grey goo. If you don't feel like getting gussied up in your finest flesh we also, of course, accept holographic transmissions. This week we will be discussing "transhumanism" and how it was perceived by our primitive meat-bag forerunners in the 21st century at the cusp of the technology/identity revolution. Come explore this interesting era of human development with us at this GQMKE safer space discussion before we become one and know all.
Genderqueer Milwaukee is as safe a space as we can make it. To help with this, we have some working agreements that we would like all who come to meetings to keep in mind while within our safer space meetings. Please check out our working agreements in the about section of our facebook page. Safer space meetings are strictly closed to researchers and reporters in their professional capacities. Meetings are open to anyone else wanting to talk and think about gender! For more info, give us a shout at [email protected]!
REMINDER
The Genderqueer Milwaukee discussion that should have been on April 16th (first and third Wednesdays) has been rescheduled to April 23rd this one time only! Mark your calendars for the chance to see this rare cosmic event… no protective eyewear required.
