“Things have been amiss lately....” He should probably update John about the ‘things’, since it may come in to play with him. But Lovecraft has priorities. A bony finger pokes John in the shoulder, then points at a small stand a few yards away. “John, buy me ice cream for the news.”
He’d buy it himself, but there is a large dog sitting next to the stand that is giving him a look clearly stating that if he gets within range, this dog will go out of its way to remove as many limbs as possible from his body. (Lovecraft thinks this is entirely unfair, as he’s been very careful to give this dog a wide berth and stay downwind of it.)
Good thing he has John he can try and bribe into braving the horrible dangers of dogs for him.
@graftage // cont // B) B;) B)
John’s anger doesn’t worry him as some others’ expressions of it do. John’s been mad at him before. It always works out, and in this case especially Lovecraft feels the question is rather too important for him to simply shrug and drop the issue.
A sharp way to express care (awkward and prodding), but a way nonetheless. Lovecraft sighs.
“I don’t understand. You don’t have to.”
There are other, better things he has to do, that is where Lovecraft is trying to get with this. Lovecraft tucks his hands in his pockets (to keep himself from fidgeting, though the desire is not particularly strong at the moment) and shifts, looking somewhere above John’s head for a few seconds before lowering to stare fixedly at his companion.
“I want you to go home, I don’t understand what problem is making you afraid of that. There are things you need and things you deserve, and fighting here is neither. I think.”
