Forgotten Words [ Tess + Pocket ]
Usually, Tess doesn’t bother much with scavenging. It’s kinda boring, sifting through old junk left in tumbledown buildings, and she doesn’t exactly have the eye to let her easily figure out what’s valuable and what isn’t. The most valuable things are usually electronics, bits of wire and circuit board, and what the young Khan knows about that sort of thing could probably fill a thimble.
Today, though, she’s found something interesting. This particular building seems to have hardly been touched, judging by the shelves upon shelves of dusty old books inside. There’’s a word for a building like this, June told her once; library. And though Tess can’t read herself, books hold something like a magical power in them. If she can find some good ones, for June to read, who knows what sorts of things they’ll tell them?
The best ones are probably the ones with the best pictures.
