The Locked Tomb series audiobooks will be re-released in Graphic Audio!

Early this morning, somebody on Twitter liked an old post of mine with a press release from Tamsyn’s literary agent’s website. And it made me realize I had not checked it in a really long time. So I looked, and found out not only that some new translations of Princess Floralinda (Italian and Hungarian!) and Gideon (Greek!) were coming, but that the rights for the TLT audiobooks were sold to Graphic Audio!!!

What does this mean? In short, we will be getting all new versions of each of the Locked Tomb audiobooks, with a full cast recording. That means different voice actors playing different roles as if we were listening to a real audio drama or dramatic reading of a stage play. No idea if Moira Quirk will be involved or not (god I hope so!!!) but this is cool! It usually only happens with really successful novels.

Also I looked up why it says “abridged” and I guess that usually just means they replace something such as descriptions of noises with the actual sounds. So ringing bells instead of the “blah blam” of the Ninth bells, etc. But otherwise it will be the full recordings of the full books!

The way I was looking up Elain’s VA only to see she’s represented by a company named Eris Talent is absolutely hysterical to me 💀

Decided to give the Murderbot graphic audio a try. And I know a lot of people take issue with the voices. I can get over Ratthi's weird accent (I think they're going for West Country?? But honestly it's hard to tell, it's a bit dire...).

Mensah definitely sounds waaaay too young. Murderbot goes on a spiel about how it thinks she's quite old by human standards and then she chimes and sounds 20 at a push.

But my main issue is that I cannot tell most of the survey team apart??? All of the characters with female VAs sound the same to me. Idk if I'm missing some differences between the American accents that I can't detect or something but like. Mensah, Pin Lee, Arada (and ngl I'm not even sure if I've heard Bharadwaj speak or if it was one of the others), I simply have no idea who's speaking. And obv because it's graphic audio it's cut out all of the 'he said' 'she saids'. But I feel like it's cut out too many of them??

Part of the issue is that a lot of the time they speak (even very early into All Systems Red) with absolutely no contextual markers provided. As someone who struggles a bit with telling voices apart already, I feel like I've been given absolutely no chance at all.

For example, I think Overse has a slightly huskier voice, at least enough for me to detect it. But I'm not sure because when I think she's talking I have no way to tell if my hunch is correct!

It feels very... Inaccessible...

Which is a real shame. I was excited to listen to them. But I think I'm gonna just give up...

Am I the only one that somehow never-realized/forgot that Sawyer and Rhi sleep together in the first book😂🤣 … cause I’m doing a re-read and was somehow shocked.
