For most of Year One I was “tracing” the images onto canvas all in bunches so I’d be able to jump around as colors came up. This was also to leapfrog over anxiety I had about getting back into drawing after having stopped entirely for almost a decade. Made a memerule in January 2017 that year one would be graphite transfer, year two would be grids, and year three is going to be hand drawing and projection, etc. Like part of the idea of the race aspect is to value production itself over trying to “prove” that you’re skilled at drawing or whatever.
