the soft piano coming in during the diner scene when they start discussing how they lie to the women in their lives sure does hit different
faulkner, houghton, dunder-mifflin
faulkner: what tropes do you LOVE writing? which ones are your guilty pleasure?
Is ‘repressed idiot learning to be in love and enjoy small things’ a trope?
I don’t really do guilty, but like, I think the thing i write that people would say i *should* have guilt over is angsty high drama with a saccharine ending.
houghton: what’s something you love that people compliment your pieces on?
I don’t know if this is answering the question correctly, but my favourite kind of feedback is when people parrot back a bit of my writing and then explain why that caught their eye or supply a reaction to it. I guess like... what i love is how writing can connect people in very specific emotional ways, and I love seeing how that happens in replies?
mifflin: what do you feel is your strong suit in writing?
Quantity. I average about 2k words a day on bad days, and that writing might be shit but it’s still ideas on paper. They can be cleaned up and made into something worthwhile when i’m feeling less like hell.
