So I'm gathering from your posts that Cas is dead again and I'm here like AGAIN??? but I'm also kind of curious, is it worth the torture? (I got stuck somewhere around s11 or 12 a while ago) do you think its For Real this time? I don't know how to feel about it!
He died in the season 12 finale, and the season 13 premiere picks up with no time jump at all, so we are dealing with the immediate aftermath. I can tell you that Cas is definitely coming back. They haven’t tried to hide that from us at all, and we even know what ep he comes back to life (it will be 6). We also know that we will see him prior to that in some other realm. From what we know, I have a feeling (though no definite knowledge) that Cas will probably have some self-introspection during this time. From some stuff Misha said, I think when he comes back he won’t have been very traumatized by the experience this time (possibly because of his own introspective gains of self-knowledge/philosophical acceptance of stuff?), but the boys (&Dean especially) are fucking wrecked about it. I saw Misha saying somewhere that he felt it was really important to see how much Cas’s death affects Sam & Dean (and I believe he did say especially Dean).
I will say that YMMV, but I liked the premiere a lot. I feel that season 12 had some really great stuff, some mediocre stuff, and some really shitty stuff in it— so par for the course, really. If you feel you don’t want to deal with the shit parts of the show any more, that’s a judgement call you will need to make. I can warn you now that season 12 features the completely pointless deaths of TWO female characters I absolutely loved (though no worries for Jody/Donna/Claire/Alex, just to reassure you), which tells me that TPTB learned absolutely nothing from The Charlie Incident. But the good stuff is very good, and for now I’m still into the show.
