The Rogue Masterlist.
“What’s going on?” You couldn’t help but ask.
The two guys in front of you didn’t answer, they barely acknowledged you as they walked, on their way to what seemed like a closed off floor. Everyone halted as you approached an elevator, including you, watching as the brunette pressed the button and stepping inside as the doors separated.
The blond looked at you from where he was standing, eyebrows furrowing as if he was waiting for you to step inside. But your feet wouldn’t move, it was like you’d frozen on the spot, not knowing what to expect once you came face to face with Grayson. For all you knew, you could be walking into your death and you wouldn’t know better. Grayson looked like the kind of guy who would kill anyone on the spot if they even looked at him the wrong way, and it scared you. Not many things scared you, you’d been taught to be strong considering how you’d grown up. But there was something about the cartel leader that chilled you to the bone.
“Come on, fish.” The blond sneered, grabbing you by the arm and yanking you forward. You tumbled into the elevator, your hands coming up to support your weight as you crashed into the wall, a whimper threatening to escape as you felt your broken knuckles protest.
The whole ride up was quiet and when the elevator pinged, signaling its arrival, you couldn’t hold back the shiver that crept up your body. You walked behind the men, taking in the expensive looking carpet and open space, marveling at how beautiful it looked. It looked like any penthouse you’d seen, but you couldn’t stop looking around as you walked.
Grayson was standing in the middle of the room, his back to you as he gazed out the floor to ceiling window. The view was breathtaking and you would probably stop and admire it if it weren’t for your situation and the intense panic creeping up your spine, almost choking you. The jeans Grayson was wearing was hugging his thick thighs beautifully, the blackness fading into a weird grey. His sweater that he was wearing was almost a size too big on his already large frame and this time, when he turned around, you could see how styled his hair was compared to last night when you’d first seen him. His face was like stone, not revealing a single emotion as he nodded at the two men beside you. They scampered off like scared rats and you continued staring the leader down as you heard the elevator doors open and close, the sound of it fading as it descended. You watched with bated breath as the strikingly dangerous man circled the white couch, walking around to the bar in the corner and pouring himself a drink.
You refrained from wrinkling your nose, thinking that it was way too early to start drinking. But you held your tongue and continued following him with your gaze as he took a sip of his drink. And it was when he placed the tumbler glass on the shiny counter that you noticed the gun laying there, right next to where he’d just placed the glass.
“Why am I here?” Your mouth caught up with you before your mind did, and you sucked in your bottom lip as he raised an already arched eyebrow, meeting your gaze. A gaze that almost made you quake in your shoes.
It took everything in you to stop yourself from sneering that him, thinking that it was the perfect time to just gun him down and get on with it. But you knew he probably had men on standby, ready to pounce as soon as he said the word. And Grayson was at least two heads taller than you, only proving his point as he grabbed the revolver on the counter, taking the mere few steps and towering over you. You inhaled, trying to keep calm as he got up in your personal space, not breaking eye contact to show him that you weren’t afraid of him.
“It was a really bold move,” He started, pausing as he raked his eyes over you. You held back the grimace of disgust as his eyebrow jumped when he stared at your body. “The way you fought Parker.”
So that was his name. Parker. The rapist.
“It wasn’t bold. It was human.” You couldn’t help but retort, watching as Grayson’s bright eyes darkened.
A shiver of awareness ran through you as you saw from your peripheral view as he brought the revolver up. You continued glaring at the man in front of you, even as he ran the muzzle of the gun over the skin of your arm, his eyes tracking the movements as he continued up to your shoulder. You stretched your neck out, refusing to show him any fear as you held your gaze on him.
“You’re at a cartel,” He murmured quietly, but loud enough for you to hear as the muzzle made its way up the side of your neck. “There’s no humanity here.”
His breath hit your lips as he talked and you couldn’t help but close your eyes when the muzzle grazed your bottom lip. When Grayson spoke next, you could’ve sworn that he was smirking.
“So innocent.” He whispered and you parted your lips to breathe out, trying to calm your racing heart as the muzzle of the revolver made contact with your lips.
You recoiled, stepping back as you opened your eyes to shoot the man a glare. He was watching with amusement shining in his eyes and it made you feel dirty.
“We’re closing a drug deal tomorrow and you’re going to join us.” He said and you almost stopped dead in your tracks.
“Me?” You couldn’t help but utter, thinking that maybe this was a good thing.
Maybe now, you could get close to the more important members of the cartel. Get some intel and hopefully bring down the cartel faster than you’d originally planned.
“Ethan will come and collect you at 10a.m. Don’t be late.” Grayson had made up his mind, it was written all over his face as he sat himself down on the couch.
“And what if I disagree?” You couldn’t help but retort, thinking that you should probably learn to shut your mouth. But you wanted to get some reaction out of him, he had been acting way too calm the both times you’d seen him. If you count him shooting the Parker guy in cold blood.
Grayson fixed you with a stare that was so strikingly terrifying that you felt it all the way to your toes, hands clenching into small fists instinctively.
“You won’t.”

Everyone failed to mention the fact that Grayson had a twin brother. Ethan looked a lot like Grayson, but you could see the difference with only one glance at him. If you counted out the fact that their hair was different from each other, Ethan looked more sharp and friendlier than his brother did. He was friendly too, greeting you as he knocked on the door to your room, introducing himself before handing you some folded clothes.
They were basic black jeans and a tank top, a bomber jacket with it with the Rogue’s symbol on the back. You wouldn’t admit it out loud, especially to Hayden, but you looked killer when you stared at yourself in the mirror. And Ethan said just as much as you walked out onto the hallway and began your journey to ‘The Pit’, a space where meetings and preparations for deals were held. Ethan made smalltalk, mistaking your silence for nerves but you were only trying to prepare yourself for what was to come.
The Pit was weirdly similar to yours back at home, a large space with different guns and rifles on every wall. Ten or so members were roaming around, holstering guns and talking as they prepared for whatever was to happen. You’d been through enough drug deals to know how they went, but you figured that playing clueless was probably better to avoid getting caught or questioned.
“Have you used any of these before?” Ethan asked, gesturing to the row of rifles on the wall closest to you both.
“A few times. I’m more familiar with the smaller pistols, though.” You gave him a small smile and he recuperated it, pearly whites showing before he turned around and walked over to the case withholding pistols.
You were busy picking out a pistol with Ethan when you heard footsteps nearby. Normally, you’d ignore it and mind your own business but it was the sharpness of the voice that grabbed your attention.
“You can’t be serious, boss. She’s barely been out on the shooting range, and now you’re making her tag along to an important deal just like that? She looks like she could break at any moment.”
You knew he was talking about you, and you could feel your blood boil as you glared down at a pistol you were holding your hands, a Desert Eagle; much like the one Grayson had used on Parker.
“Don’t fucking argue with me, Alex,” Grayson’s voice sneered. “Focus on gathering your group and get off my back before I take you out of this mission.”
A frustrated sigh was heard and then footsteps. You gripped the pistol tighter in your hands, resisting the urge to turn around and shoot the guy who’d questioned your abilities.

A/N: We have reached the end my lovely friends. I wanna thank you all for supporting me through my first mini series and making it a memorable one. I’ve had so much fun writing this and I hope you liked this series! Let me know what you thought! x
The Dolan cabin was chaotic the next morning. Every person in the cottage was running around like they had caught themselves on fire, as they tried to balance eating breakfast, fighting over who gets to take a shower first and getting dressed. The bride, groom, best men and the brides maids had all made their way to the church hours ago, but you were still a lot of people in the house and it was hilarious to watch how everyone ran around.
You had woken up early to avoid the line to the bathroom and taken a shower, taking your time to wash your hair and body before jumping into some sweats. Right now you were sitting on the kitchen counter beside Cameron, she was eating her cereal while you were nibbling on your granola bar, hair still wrapped up in a towel, legs dangling back and forth.
“Is it weird that I’m actually gonna miss this cabin?” You asked, looking around, feeling weirdly nostalgic. Even though you’d had your fair share of painful memories, the good memories overrode them by far.
“Not weird. I don’t wanna go back to college,” she paused, scooping up a huge bit of cereal in her mouth. “Now, that shit is painful.”
Lisa came into the room then, hair rollers on her head and she scowled.
“Cameron, language!” She scolded her, wagging a finger your way.
You and Cam looked at each other, giggling before you followed Lisa’s movements with your eyes, watching her rummage through the kitchen drawers before producing a pair of scissors. She hummed in satisfaction and began walking out of the kitchen, halting her steps in the last second.
“Aren’t you gonna get off your butts and get ready? We have to leave soon.” She asked, cocking an eyebrow as if to say ‘move your asses before I drag you both upstairs’ before disappearing out of your sight.
Cameron sighed reluctantly, hopping off of the counter and placing the spoon in the sink, bringing the rim of the bowl to her lips so she could slurp the milk up. You chewed on the last bit of your granola, watching in amusement as she let out a small satisfied aahhh.
Grayson was standing in the middle of the room, facing the large mirror as he struggled with his bow tie. You whistled jokingly as you walked in, laughing when he stuck out his tongue at you.
“I can’t get this right.” He whined, letting his arms fall to his sides.
You rolled your eyes as he pouted, crossing the room to help him with his bow tie that he had managed to twist around in the complete opposite way, correcting it for him.
“You clean up well, Dolan.” You said as you took a step back, patting his shoulder with a limp hand and turning around to get rid of the towel on your head.
You draped it across the back of a chair and went to hunt down Cameron for her hairdryer.

Your dress was on, your heels were on, your make-up looked perfect and your hair was up in an elegant, twisted updo that Cameron had insisted on helping you with. Lisa knocked on Cameron’s door, yelling through the door that they were leaving and that you two would have to catch a ride with Ethan and Grayson. Cameron made a sound of acknowledgement, too busy trying to snap a decent enough selfie of the both of you to put up on Instagram. When you had deemed a few good enough for the social medias to see, you walked out into the hallway. Grayson was by the top of the stairs, tapping away on his phone while he waited for you.
“Cupcake, can you go grab Ethan? He’s been fussing with his hair for ages now and if I go, then I’ll probably end up strangling him.” Grayson pointed to his bedroom door and you nodded, suddenly feeling nervous.
You hadn’t talked to Ethan since last night while you two were dancing. During the morning you had seen him twice, once when you had bumped into his wet, half-naked body as he was stepping out of the bathroom, and the other time when he was ironing Sean’s shirt, laughing when he accidentally went ahead and burnt it by the collar. You smiled at the memory of Ethan laughing, so far into your thoughts that you halted in your steps when you found yourself by the doorway of Ethan’s room.
He was wearing a black tuxedo with a matching black bow tie and his hair was slicked back in the front, little wisps of it crooked by his forehead. You admired the strip of color that once was purple, it had now faded to white and it fit him so well.
Ethan looked up, body jerking with a gasp as he caught sight of you in the doorway. He breathed out, placing a hand on his heart. You giggled.
“Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.” You said, taking a step inside.
Ethan gave you a crooked smile before it quickly dropped, eyes roaming your body as he took your appearance in. You felt something tug at your heart when you saw his jaw slacken slightly, arms getting limp by his sides.
“Y/N…” He breathed and you blushed, jokingly twirling around slowly. You had intended it to be a joke to ease the mood, but when you faced Ethan again you almost stopped breathing. He was looking at you with emotions in his eyes you had never seen before, hands clenched into fists as he shook his head. “You look breathtaking.”
You refrained from biting into your lip, not wanting to get lipstick on your teeth. Nothing killed the mood more than lipstick on the teeth, or anything on the teeth for that matter.
“You don’t look so bad yourself, E.” You said, nothing but sincerity in your voice as you took him in. He looked gorgeous, and suddenly you felt stupid for having been hooked on the wrong twin.
Ethan gave you a smile, looking down at himself as if he had forgotten what he was wearing before locking eyes with you again.
“You think? Should I have my hair like this or just change it?” He frowned and you wanted to laugh at how conflicted he sounded.
You took a few steps forward until you were standing in front of him.
“I think you look handsome.” You whispered and his frown dissipated, an easy smile overtaking his beautiful face, cheeks dimpling.
You held your breath as you saw from the corner of your eye, his hand moving up your arm, spreading goosebumps all over your skin. Your eyes fell on his hand and then back up to his face, breath hitching as you locked eyes. His eyes seemed so much darker and he was so close to your face that you could feel his breath against your lips. Just a nudge and you’d close the small space between you two.
But of course, Grayson’s impatient voice echoed through the hallway, reaching the suddenly silent room you two were standing in the middle of. Ethan angled his head to the side, sucking in a breath as he closed his eyes and you stared at him in silence, scared to move. You resisted from gripping his arm when he leaned even further down, pecking your shoulder quickly before sidestepping.
“Let’s go.” He said and you breathed out, feeling a bit light-headed as you followed him out of the room, trying not to wobble.

It took everything in you not to cry as Lola and Tim said their I do’s, standing in front of their families and friends, sniffling. You had patted Cameron’s hand as she sniffled beside you, cursing under her breath. After the long undergoing process of taking pictures, you all migrated to the venue where the wedding reception was being held at.
The venue was beautiful and wherever you looked, you could see a happy face. You were at the moment standing by a corner, nursing a soda as you giggled quietly at Cam’s and Gray’s antics. They were trying to befriend the bartender, trying to get their hands on drinks that weren’t alcohol free. And judging by the looks of it, it wasn’t going well; the bartender had narrowed his eyes, rolled them, raised his eyebrows and snorted at every attempt made by the siblings.
“Y/N, dear..” You felt Lisa’s hand touch your shoulder and you turned to her. She engulfed you into a hug, patting your exposed back in a motherly way. You were confused. “Grayson came clean. I’m so upset with him for putting you through that.”
You felt your eyes widen before you could stop them, staring at Lisa, uncertain of what to even say.
“But I’m so glad that he has a loyal friend like you, my dear. I trust you to take care of them now that they live so far away from home,” she paused, smiling sadly. “Thank you.”
You looked at her, confusion still evident on your face probably. But you smiled at her and took her hand, squeezing it as response.
~
The night had gone well, people were a bit more tipsy now, having loud conversations and laughing while reminscing. You were sitting by the table with Grayson, Cameron and Ethan, sipping on your champagne that Cam finally had managed to get you. Ethan kept giving you looks from across the table and you were playing along, smiling into the rim of your flute as you took small sips. Your cheeks felt warm and flushed and they ached from all the smiling. Cameron rolled her eyes as she looked between you two, leaning in to whisper into Ethan’s ear. Ethan smiled at you and you smiled, looking out onto the dancefloor just as the song switched into Michael Bublé’s Everything.
“Wanna dance?” You didn’t know how you hadn’t noticed Ethan get up from his seat, but he was standing in front of you with his hand outstretched.
You glanced at the other two siblings who were smiling like they knew about a secret that you didn’t.
“Sure.” You responded, putting your hand in Ethan’s, letting him pull you up.
He lead you to the dance floor, laughing when you stumbled over your long gown. You pouted, narrowing your eyes at him and he stuck his tongue out. The song picked up speed as it neared the chorus and you giggled as Ethan pulled you into his arms, wrapping them around your waist and yours going around his torso. You nuzzled into his neck, breathing in his cologne as you both swayed slower than the beat of the song.
You danced through the song and when it was over, you went to pull away to get back to your seat. But Ethan had other plans as he held you in place, right in his arms. You hummed in content as you squeezed him closer to your body, hearing him laugh.
It was funny how you had been pining over Grayson, thinking that your feelings for him was anything beyond friendship. And you suffered through half of this trip, relying on Ethan to pick you up whenever you were feeling down. Thinking back on it now, he was the one who had always been there for you, trying his hardest to make you laugh and smile, offering you his shoulder to cry on, taking your side in a lot of arguments and stopping you whenever you were doing something wrong, keeping you on track.
He was the one. The one who’d go to the end of the earth for you, and you had been too blind to see it. But now, swaying in his arms as Keith Urban’s song blasted through the speakers, you felt happier than you had felt in a long time.
You didn’t know what prompted you to do it, maybe it was the strong surge of affection and love that crashed over you, or maybe it was the champagne. But you pulled away from him, leaning up to whisper in his ear.
“Meet me outside the toilets in two minutes.” You whispered, dragging your lips against the edge of his ear before pulling away. His eyes had darkened and he looked at you as you giggled, turning to strut away. You made sure to put an extra sway to your hips, knowing that he was watching.
You made it to the long hallway, sending a quick thank you to the sky as you realized that it was completely deserted. You bit down on your lowerlip, wondering how you would stand, debating whether this was a good idea or not. Footsteps made you turn though and you saw Ethan stalking toward you, smile creeping up on your lips as he smirked.
“Eth- Oh!” You squeaked as he wrapped one arm around your back, backing you into the wall and chasing your lips with. He gave you a blistering kiss, pressing his body against yours as he deepened it and you couldn’t help but moan. You grabbed the sides of his arms with your hands, pushing forward to make the most of the kiss.
You didn’t know for how long you stood there, so far gone in everything that was Ethan, his scent, his taste, his eyes, his touch. But you snapped out of it when you heard footsteps from a long distance, pushing Ethan back slightly. He moaned against your lips, leaning foward to go in for more but you giggled, pushing at his shoulder harder.
“What, baby?” He asked confusedly, hands tracing your naked back as he stared at you. You refrained from kissing his swollen lips, biting into your own instead.
“Someone’s coming.” You whispered and it seemed like that was what snapped him out of the state he was in, frowning when he heard the steps getting closer.
He pulled off completely, going to lean against the wall in front of you in a casual manner and you pouted at him, already missing the warmth of his body against yours. Your head turned as somebody rounded the corner, probably a relative of Ethan’s because he smiled politely at her, nodding in greeting. You stared at him in awe, something twisting deep in your stomach as you took in his disheveled state. His mouth was subtly stained with your lipstick, hair laying curly and flat on his head, strands sticking out in different directions, tuxedo wrinkled and cheeks flushed.
He looked like a mess, but as he locked eyes with you, you couldn’t help but think that you wouldn’t want him any other way. He was yours.
Summary: Your bestfriend Grayson is attending a relative’s wedding and he needs you to act as his girlfriend. Cue lots of pining from both your sides, smug looks from Ethan and their family pressuring you into marriage and babies.

A/N: We’re nearing the end, my friends. I still have around 1-2 parts to post though so don’t fret. Also, huge thank you for 400 followers. xx Listen to this too, if you wanna.
You were shocked, frozen in your place as he pulled away from the kiss. It had been chaste but it went on for long enough for you to feel it all over your body. You opened your eyes as Grayson pulled away, feeling all kinds of emotions as you stared into his eyes.
You would probably have blushed at the way his relatives in the back were awwing and marveling at how cute you both looked, but you were too busy struggling with your feelings and sorting out the thoughts swirling in your mind.
Grayson looked at you, lips pulling into a smile as he slipped his hand into yours, beckoning for you to take the last step of the staircase. You felt disoriented as you got guided through the hallway to put on your shoes. As you bent down to pull on your boots, you looked around for Ethan but couldn’t find him anywhere.
As you stepped out, you saw him get into the car along with Lisa, Sean, Lily and Cameron. Grayson soon came out of the house, putting a hand on your back to guide you along to his rental car that he had parket up on the driveway.
It was quiet the whole car ride, expect for Timothy and one of Gray’s other uncles, Leonard talking in the back. You tuned them out, trying not to feel confused by the whole situation but you couldn’t help it. You didn’t know what to feel, you didn’t know if that kiss was just for show or if he kissed you because he truly liked you the way you liked him.
You glanced at Grayson who had his eyes on the road, not showing any kind of emotion on his face as he drove and it confused you. So much so, that you started to develop a headache.
The venue was beautiful and you arrived at the same time as everybody else did, everyone changing into fancier shoes and walking into the venue where the wedding reception would be held. You stared in awe, walking slowly as you took in the hundreds of fairy lights hung up on the roof and the tables that each contained the usual cutlery, along with bouquets and nicely folded napkins.
“This is beautiful.” Cameron said as she sidled up beside you, looking like she was in just as much awe as you were.
You smiled, “Simplicity at its best.”
She hummed in response, walking over to the buffet to get her hands on whatever she could find. You watched her with a humored smile, thinking of how funny she looked as he squeezed inbetween the tiny kids to get to the food.
“Cupcake,” You heard a voice behind you and you twirled around, finding Grayson looking at you with a wide smile on his face. “Wanna dance?”
Just then, you noticed the music that had been playing, looking around the venue like you were trying to locate the speakers. Grayson took your hand as you nodded, leading you out on the dancefloor where a few people were already dancing, a few kids trying to dance as slowly as the music was going, failing adorably. You felt Grayson raise your intertwined hands up while sliding his other free hand around your waist. You put yours on his shoulder and looked up at him, trying to figure out what was going through his mind. Was he just as confused as you? Was he just stringing you along? Did he only do this for show? You were, after all, still girlfriend and boyfriend to his family.
Grayson looked at you, eyes roaming your face.
“What?” He asked quietly with a small laugh.
“I’m just a bit confused...” You started and then paused, wondering if you actually wanted to ask him. Then you decided that it was necessary. “That kiss... It’s, it just.. I don’t know.”
Great, you were stuttering. Grayson pulled you closer and you placed your cheek against his shoulder, feeling his cheek rest against the side of your head.
“They bought it, it was great.” He murmured and you stiffened, pulling back slightly to look at him.
At first you thought you’d heard him wrong, that it was just all a sick joke. But the look on his face told you otherwise. The kiss had been all for show. It hadn’t been real like you thought. You suddenly felt disappointment hit you like a wave, feeling foolish that you actually fell for it, that you let yourself believe that it was more than it actually was. You and Grayson would never be anything but friends.
“Y/N?” He asked, confusion all over his face. “What’s wrong?”
Before you had time to respond, you saw dainty, nicely manicured fingers tap his shoulder and you both turned, the owner of the fingers coming into view. She was just as beautiful upclose and every ounce of confidence you had felt an hour ago just flew out the window as you looked at her. Her eyes were almost sparkling, how was that even possible?
“Gray!” She said and you almost recoiled at her sickly sweet tone. “There you are. Look at you, so handsome.”
You loosened your hold on Grayson’s hand, not knowing what to do. She turned to you, flashing you her perfectly white teeth at you.
“And this must be the girlfriend.” She said and you refrained from glaring at her, feeling sick to your stomach as she looked at you like you were dirt stuck under her shoe. “I’m Isabelle, nice to meet you.”
You nodded, feeling your mouth dry up as Grayson looked at you. He looked conflicted, panic showing in his eyes, so you shot her a smile and took her outstretched hand in yours, shaking it.
“Y/N. The girlfriend.” You smiled and she wrinkled her nose discreetly, dropping your hand and putting it on Grayson’s arm.
His eyes shifted over to you, but you were too focused on her hand that was holding his arm to even acknowledge his facial expressions.
“Mind if I borrow your man for a dance?” She asked and before you could answer her, she had pulled him along, further away to the dancefloor.
You watched them go, feeling embarrassed that you were left standing alone. And to make it worse, the song switched to a more intimate one. Boyz II Men. Great, you thought, trying not to roll your eyes.
“So I guess you’re free to dance with me, then?” You heard someone ask behind you and you turned around, looking at Ethan who was staring right back at you. “I promise I won’t step on your feet. Wait, no. I take that back. I promise I will try not to step on your feet.”
You laughed wetly, willing yourself not to blink so you wouldn’t ruin your makeup. Ethan gave you a soft smile, bringing you in close to him with the help of his hands. He wrapped one arm around you, the other taking yours to hold close to his chest. You sniffled, placing your cheek against his chest as he started swaying along to the music playing in the venue.
“My brother is a fool.” Ethan whispered quietly into your hair. You let your eyes weep across the dancefloor, closing them when you caught sight of Grayson’s smile as he swayed along with Isabelle a few feet away.
You sniffled into his chest, feeling him squeeze your hand in response.
“I guess I am, too.” He whispered quietly like he was telling you a secret and you frowned in confusion.
You blinked your eyes open, pulling back slightly to look at him.
“What do you mean?” You asked, not really sure what he was trying to tell you.
Ethan stopped swaying all together, meeting your eyes steadily and you grew worried when you felt the hand he was holding you in, start to sweat.
“Y/N.. I - “
“Ethan, my boy, mind if I cut in?” Sean interrupted him before he could talk any further and you wanted to turn around and scream at him to come back later to ask you. Just so you could hear what Ethan had to say.
Your eyes didn’t leave Ethan’s face as he nodded toward his father, handing you over with a gentle smile. He walked off to the side and you stopped yourself from frowning in confusion and frustration.
“You look beautiful tonight, darling.” Sean complimented you and you focused your eyes on his smiling face, giving him a shy smile.
“Thank you.” You thanked him, suddenly feeling awkward.
“Grayson is lucky to have you.” He went on and you felt your chin shake, determined not to let your smile slip off at the mention of Grayson.

The rehearsal went beautifully. After a lot of mingling and dancing, you had sat down and the best men and brides maids had all given their speeches. There had been sniffling and laughter going through the small crowd. And despite everything that had happened earlier, you felt happy just watching Tim and Lola being so head over heels for each other.
Watching them made you wonder if you would ever experience the kind of love they had for each other.
That night, when you all had gotten home safe and soundly, you retreated to your rooms. Everyone was buzzing from the champagne they had had, along with pre-wedding jitters. It was understandable, this whole week had been leading up to the wedding and tomorrow it was happening.
You scratched the back of your neck with your fingers as you walked into the room, feeling drained from being on your heels all day and having so much to think about.
Grayson entered the room a few minutes later, looking conflicted and torn. You frowned as he closed the door behind himself, meeting your eyes.

A/N: I hope you’ll like my decision! I felt like everything was becoming too predictable so I decided to twist it around a bit. Let me know what you thought!
You remembered the first time you had met the twins. It was during your first year in High School and you were still at that awkward stage where you were growing up and tried to figure out what your thing was. You had tried out for the swim team, the science club and lastly the drama club. For some reason you had felt like it would be cool to try out for the lead in the schools play, so when the time finally came for you to audition, the twins had been sitting in the crowd. Apparently they’d gotten detention and were getting punished by helping out backstage, giving them a perfect view for anyone who stepped up on that tiny stage to audition.
The guy you had auditioned with was a complete dumbass that had tried to initiate a kiss that wasn’t necessary to audition for, going to grab your ass. But you didn’t have any of it. You had grabbed his wrist, twisting it behind his back and wrestled him to the ground. And that was how you caught the attention of the two brothers, never leaving each other’s sides from that day on.
You didn’t know why your mind took you back to that time, but you came to your senses when Grayson sat down on the bed, rubbing his clammy hands together as he sighed, breath sounding shaky. You let your eyes sweep over his face, body, taking in everything that you knew you would lose. He was surely gonna tell you that he knew about your weird feelings for him, dropping you like a fly.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N.” He whispered and you strained your ears to hear him clearly. This was it, then. “You’re my best friend, you know that, right?”
He raised his head and caught your stare, and you felt yourself freeze. You didn’t know where this was going. So you did the only thing you could think of; walking over to the bed, sitting beside him and taking his shaking hand. He clutched your hand in his and you really felt how he was shaking.
“I don’t wanna lose you. I can’t do this, I can’t tell you this.” He whispered, clenching his eyes shut as if in pain and you desperately tried to find your voice.
He didn’t feel the same. And you were so confused, because why weren’t you feeling that disappointment that you were so sure you were gonna feel? You only felt terrified, terrified that you would lose your best friend for good. Grayson had been your rock through high school, entering adult life. You wouldn’t know what to do with yourself if you ever lost him.
“Gray, I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.” You couldn’t help it, you broke down crying. You could see Grayson frown through your blurry eyes, and you began to sob heavily as he brought you in for a hug.
“Why are you sorry?” He asked, bringing a hand up to stroke your hair in a comforting manner. You tried to keep your tears in control as you pulled back slightly to look at him. “Cupcake, I’m the one who should say sorry. I’ve been so oblivious and insensitive toward you and your feelings. And then Ethan pointed something out and it all just clicked for me. I tried really hard to reciprocate those feelings, but I just couldn’t.”
You ignored the small stab in your heart, looking down at your lap where Grayson had his hands in yours, squeezing them as if he was afraid that you would disappear if he wasn’t holding onto you.
“Then I found you that morning in bed with Ethan and I just got so scared.” He whispered and you frowned in confusion, looking up at him. “We’ve been best friends for so long, and I just felt like you were slipping away from me. I was afraid that you’d forget about me if you ever started something with E.”
Your frown deepened and you felt something strange curl in your stomach.
“So I kissed you when I saw how you were looking at each other just to spite him.” He murmured and breathed out, looking like he was ashamed of what he had done.
Of all the things you had feared for, this was one thing you hadn’t expected. You were so sure that he was still in love with Isabelle and just used you to get her jealous, or maybe just to get his family off his back.
Grayson, however, mistook your silence for anger.
“I know, I’m a horrible human being and I understand if you want nothing to do with me.” He continued, panic rising in his voice.
“Gray,” you said but he was pulling his hands away, so you grabbed them a bit more harder than before, shaking your head with a sad smile when he met your eyes. “Grayson. No, don’t. It is true that you put me through hell, but I’m glad you decided to step up and actually own up to your mistakes.”
“Y/N, if you decide to even date Ethan then you have my full support. I know that my fear was irrational.”
You shook your head, letting go of one of his hands to dry tears that had dried on your cheeks, making them feel tacky. Grayson watched you, cheeks tinged with red, embarrassed smile on his face. You smiled at him.
“You Dolan boys are a handful, but I wouldn’t trade you for the world.” You said and Grayson laughed, shaking his head. “Wait, what do you mean with me dating Ethan?”
Grayson rolled his eyes.
“And you call me the oblivious one, oh my God.” He stood up with a shake of his head, shedding his fancy clothes before rummaging through his bag.
You frowned, but that frown was soon replaced with a look of realization as you understood what he was saying.
“Wait...” You began.
“Congratulations, Cupcake.” Grayson laughed. “Now go get ready for bed, the wedding is early tomorrow.”
“The wedding!” You gasped as you realized the whole reason you were here. “What are we-?”
Grayson turned around and you glanced down at his chest. It was weird, because only a day ago you would’ve melted a bit inside at the sight of his naked torso, but looking at it now didn’t do anything to you. You felt much lighter in general, like the puzzle was now starting to get pieced back together the correct way and making sense.
“I’ll handle it, I’m gonna come clean tomorrow about the whole situation.” He answered with a shrug and you knitted your eyebrows close together. “Don’t look at me like that!”
“Why would you do that? I can still play along, we leave tomorrow anyway.” You said and Grayson rolled his eyes.
“Because.” Was his answer and you knew that was it, he didn’t want to discuss it any further.
Which was fine with you, because you were exhausted and dying to feel the warm sheets against your body. But as you laid there twenty minutes later, turned toward Grayson’s sleeping form, staring at his naked body, you felt your mind go into overdrive again. You had been just as oblivious as Grayson when it came to your friendship with Ethan and you didn’t know what to do or how to react when it came to tomorrow.
