"The Maiden of the Great Tree."
AFTERLIFE
by Jorge Jacinto
Random pet peeve I have with the nnt English wiki: WHY IS THE GREAT TREE LABELED THE SACRED TREE???
Like I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the Sacred Tree and Great Tree are seperate entities. The Cursed by Light movie literally shows them having different designs.
Like the Sacred Tree lies in the Fairy realm (only accessible to fairies) and the Great Tree lies in the Fairy King’s Forest. I always understood that the Great Tree was an extension of the Sacred Tree but in Britannia. Since the Fairy King’s Forest acts like a border between the human and fairy realm.
And just to support my reasoning that I’m not crazy and they are in fact different: Don’t you think it’d be a pretty big deal if the literal GOD OF THE FAIRIES DIED FROM A RED DEMON. And like don’t you think it’d be a bigger deal for fairies if your god/creator died? Instead of just a “Boo Harlequin you suck” moment.
Anyways this is a rant I remember having in my head four years ago, and I just wanted to get it out.
(Idk guys am I delusional?)
If y’all have any thoughts or evidence to support or refute my claims please share 🙏
"Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
When I pick up a wild ant such as this Camponotus pennsylvanicus minor worker I’m always anxious that I return her to her colony. I followed her after letting her go. She ran the full length of a football field then suddenly up a pole. Waiting there another ant of the same species. They fussed over each other. Grooming and feeding each other for several minutes. Then they tucked into a nook in the fence and went to sleep! I guess they won’t be taking me to their main nest today.
I was trying to find the location of the main colony and looked up to see this huge tree stump. Probably cut down to keep leaves off of the field 😡— it was once home to a vast colony of probably 20,000 or more carpenters! The ants I saw are probably the great granddaughters of the single queen who sired the substantial colony that marked the great tree. The stump may prove home to many more large colonies as it decays— though, the universe of organisms that was once this tree cannot compare.
When one is invested in little creatures one can get quite worked up about the removal of large trees— they are whole worlds for little ants, pseudo scorpions, isopods, spiders, slugs, aphids and beetles—
I’ve been trying to count all of the species of invertebrate on a single tree near my apartment and have not reached a limit in three years— there are always more! and between them so much drama and excitement.
To me this is the same image. A once great empire gone fallow.

Some fanart of Zhan Tiri in the Great Tree, from this fanfiction: https://archiveofourown.org/works/23370772/chapters/55996960
It’s not about Zhan Tiri, it’s about Cass, but it gives Ziti the backstory that the show so desperately needed and was missing, and I loved it. Obviously. It made her feel like an actual fucking character, and a tragic one at that, and I love me a tragic character, so here we are.
The Force Tree
So…does anyone remember the branches of the Great Tree from the Jedi Temple being stolen back from the Empire by Luke and Shara Bey (Poe's mom) in the Shattered Empire comic? Did Lucasfilm/Story Group forget about that or did they change their minds about using it? I mean….I just thought that with Project Necromancer, the Empire wanting to clone Midiclorians or something like that, it'd be a good time to bring that up (I know- The Bad Batch takes place before Shattered Empire and before the OT, but still).
It just feels like an abandoned plot line.
I just can't help picturing (during Mando season 3) Kes and Poe whistling nonchalantly with their force tree in the background.
But if it doesn't have any…Force-giving powers, then why did the Emperor want to study it? And if it was useless, why didn't he just have those twigs thrown out?
Hot take- the main reason the conflict in Great Tree is so messy is actually because both Cassandra and Rapunzel were having trauma responses and neither handled the other's well which led to both of them lashing out.
Diners Drive Ins and Dives was playing at the grocery store and i thought of ur blog mwah
