Is it weird that Ned (and Tarly) takes their ancestral GREATswords with them? Ned specially since the realm is in peace and those swords are mostly ceremonial since theyre too unwieldy to use in battle?

No, it's not weird.

Indeed, the fact that the realm is at peace makes it more likely that you'd see leading noblemen and royal officials carrying ceremonial greatswords that symbolize the power and influence of their houses.

It depresses me how many people seem to seriously think DA2's two-handed weapon animations are "unrealistic" compared to Origins' or Inquisition's. Is it so hard to do some basic research and find out two-handed weapons weren't actually heavy and bulky? No one would use them if they weighed as much as video games imply.

These pages are packed! Which is pretty expected--with the plethora of cultures and sub-societies and stuff in this world, the sheer variety you can find of the definitely-one-handed sword types rivals the real world.

On the light swords page, the column going down the left side, whether technically a smallsword or a shortsword or something else, all use the basic stats of the Shortsword, and the middle column consists of those swords which count as the Scimitar stats (though quite a few of them are technically sabers) along with a few swords using Rapier stats. The remaining swords in the margins will specify which statblock they would use.

Ooh, yes, the heavy planks of sharp metal which are most impressive in any fantasy setting. Or a real setting, with any skill. These swords all count under the Longsword (any Longswords or Falchions specifically), Greatsword (anything not a Longsword or Falchion, and not the last group), or a special subtype of weaponry I homebrew generally called the Execution Sword (which includes the Armorbreaker types, Executioner's Swords, and the beautiful Ikakalaka type blades) which I have some specific stats for. The latter is kind of rare and special, but it was different enough to not include with its own statblock.

A nominal vassal to The Imperial Household of The Empire of Mankind, The Biermann Margraves of Brannenborg are both relative newcomers and political lightweights in the affairs of Imperial politics, warfare, and intrigue. For the overwhelming majority of it’s history spent as a member state of The Empire of Mankind Proper, The Margraviate of Brannenborg has been a true backwater in terms of it’s relative strategic value as one of the seven electoral principalities of The Empire of Mankind. Carved out from part of the neglected remnants of House Bartholemew’s former “Kingdom of The Midlands” before their dynasty’s extinction well over a century before, the lands that would eventually become The Margraviate of Brannenborg within The Empire of Mankind Proper were pawned and eventually sold by the last Bartholemew King of The Midlands to The Emperors of Mankind to help pay for his equally desperate and futile war effort against the rebellious barons and burghers that eroded the political stability within The Kingdom of The Midlands during the twilight of it’s existence as one of the traditional and established powers of the civilized world. As a reward for his years of meritorious service as a household general in service to The Imperial Army of The Emperors of Mankind. Friedrich Biermann, a man of non-noble birth and status, was elevated to the status of feudal aristocracy and awarded hereditary, dynastic rule over the newly acquired lands that would become “Die Markgrafschaft Brannenborg.” As implied by both it’s historic and present strategic value as one of the four “secular,” or otherwise “lay” electoral principalities of The Empire of Mankind, a privilege that was only granted at a whim to Friedrich II Von Biermann for his military support against the partisans of Emperor Vespasian VII’s political opposition for his lawful election as Emperor of Mankind, the lands of The Margraviate of Brannenborg are at once impoverished, neglected, and under-developed. Having only been colonized and settled by “Northern,” or “Austere” Imperial immigrants and settlers during the century following Friedrich Von Biermann’s official coronation and anointment as “Der erster Markgraf von Brannenborg” and “Gründungschef von Hohenbiermann,” alongside the cultural and ethnic assimilation of the autochthonous “Albic” population through the religious services and church schools sponsored by a culturally and ethnically Northern Imperial clergy. The constituent lands of Brannenborg are ones overrun by wild forests, swamps, and marshes, and ones that are equally characterized by both their sparse population and poor infrastructure. These outstanding circumstances, alongside the historic mismanagement of past Margraves born to Hohenbiermann, contribute to Die Markgrafschaft Brannenborg’s status as a true backwater based on the southernmost frontier of The Empire of Mankind Proper, at least by contrast to all other major states that constitute The Empire of Mankind. Under the reign of previous Hohenbiermann Margraves, the land was treated as both a source of quick income and as a petty excuse to hold electoral power within the Imperial Diet at Nymphenburg, or the official seat of The Emperors of Mankind within The Empire of Mankind Proper. Under the leadership of Albrecht Von Biermann as Current Head of Hohenbiermann and reigning Markgraf von Brannenborg, has the prestige and fortunes of both The Hohenbiermann Dynasty and Brannenborg changed exponentially for the better. With the advent of the religious reforms preached by Karl Von Luxembourg at The University of Wörtzburch in Das Herzogtum Von Solingen, has Albrecht managed to take advantage of the political unrest and religious upheaval caused by The Luxembourgian Reformation as a means of both acquiring further political autonomy from, and curbing the political supremacy and excesses of the devoutly and staunchly conservative Emperors of Mankind based at Nymphenburg.
