Greedling
two's company, three's a crowd (ft. greedling, greed and ling ♡)
advanced happy valentine's day to everyone who fw greedling!
Day 19 - Secret Identity / Truth / Free Space (Suitor Armor AU)
This is by far my most self-indulgent entry, and very probably the most niche-specific art I've done in my life. Receive Fairy Ling with either cicada or yellow jacket wings (you choose), Ironkind Greed, and Traumatized Mage Ed. + Me venting down bellow.
Oh yeah! Armor design low-key inspired on yaksha!Greed! Also Thank you, @themagpiealchemist for answering the "Ling/Greed as winged insect" post, this only has two versions because of you, and thst meant double fun for me!
greed insisted his middle name was the avaracious and his last name was yao because "everything he has belongs to me" long before they started getting gay about it
The desire to constantly portray Greed as missing the intimacy of sharing a body because it meant he could be close to someone and missing being able to share thoughts and emotions like it was nothing because now he doesn't know how to effectively communicate those things to Ling because they never had to verbally tell each other about that stuff, they just let emotions and thoughts flow between them
Pretty please can you write Ling bonding with the Devil's Nest gang?
Ling stands outside Greed’s apartment, listening to the loud laughter and low, thrumming, alternative music playing from just inside of the door, one hand carrying a case of cheap beer and the other curled into a loose fist, knocking on the knotted wood in a way that he hopes is loud enough to hear over the sounds of the party.
It takes a moment for the door to swing open, but when it does, he’s met with the beautiful sight of Greed, his face flushed rosy-pink from drinking and laughter, a bright, wild glimmer in his eyes that takes Ling’s breath away. He’s all dressed up in leather and mesh, his nails freshly-painted black and his eyeliner perfectly winged, and if Ling wasn’t aware of the fact that all of Greed’s friends were waiting right inside, he’d probably kiss Greed breathless right then and there.
Instead, he smiles and offers the beer to Greed, though he does still stand on his tiptoes and drop a kiss on Greed’s cheek.
“Hello, my love.”
“Hey, you made it!” Greed cheers, and takes the beer in one hand as he slings his other arm around Ling’s shoulder. This close, Ling can smell the cigarette smoke and spice that clings to Greed’s skin, and it’s intoxicating. “C’mon in. We just ordered pizza.”
“Ooh, from that good place nearby or from the shitty one?”
“The shitty one,” Greed jokes with a roll of his eyes. “Just get in here. Everyone’s excited to meet you.”
Ling lets Greed usher him inside, and is promptly met with a gaggle of faces that he’s only seen briefly in the past, working behind the counter of Greed’s bar or acting as servers. They’re all holding cards and raising amber-filled glasses to him in welcome, and he nods politely back, unsure what to say.
Greed speaks for him.
“Everyone, this is Ling. Ling, this is everyone.”
“Oh?” a butch, blonde woman with a tattoo creeping up onto her face from the collar of her flannel shirts says, a smirk growing on her lips. “As in, the Ling that you’re totally, fuckin’ whipped for?”
“The Ling that you never shut up about?” a shorter man holding a pipe between his teeth adds with a bark of laughter, and everyone seems to join in– even the huge, stoic looking fellow.
“The Ling that-”
“Haha, you’re all so hilarious,” Greed snides, cutting them off. “Yes, that Ling. Now be nice, and offer him a drink.”
A short, meek, bald man grabs a new bottle of beer from the table and offers it to Ling, who takes it with an easy, “Thanks.”
“I’m Bido,” the man says. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“Martel,” the blonde woman introduces herself, and the others follow suit.
“Dolcetto, but you can call me Dol.”
“Roa.”
“I’m-”
Ling does his best to memorize all of the names and faces in front of him as he sips at his drink. Greed has a lot of friends, which isn’t surprising given his magnetic personality. After all, it took Ling mere minutes to become enamored with Greed.
“Love the skirt, by the way,” Martel says with a nod at Ling’s outfit, and Ling feels a small rush of pride. “It really suits you.”
“Thank you.”
“You wanna come play cards with us?” Dolcetto asks, and Ling shrugs.
“I don’t really know how to play poker or anything like that.”
“Oh, don’t worry. This is just Cards Against Humanity. Nothing fancy.”
Oh, Ling knows that game. He kicks ass at that game. He’s made Lan Fan choke on her soda and Alphonse actually start crying with his answers.
“Then sure, I’ll play.”
“Greed, you get in on this, too.”
“Yeah, okay.”
Greed, still with Ling glued to his side, leads them both to the couch, where they sink into the warm, comfy sofa together and are dealt their cards.
They jump into the game, and immediately, Ling wins a round. They play again, and he wins again. And again, and again, until the whole group is howling with laughter.
“Fuck, kid, you’re good at this,” Greed sighs, looking down at his so-far losing cards. “I thought I had that last one.”
“You’ll get the next one,” Ling says with a grin, and Greed pouts at him.
“Maybe we should switch to, like, Mario Kart or something,” Dolcetto suggests, but Greed just shakes his head.
“Nah, Ling always kicks my ass at that, too.”
“Well, to be fair,” Martel starts with a chuckle, “you suck at Mario Kart.”
“What?!”
“It’s true,” Roa nods, and Greed gasps as a hand flies to his chest, clearly betrayed.
Ling can’t help laughing, and Greed scoffs, wiping fake tears away from his eyes.
“You’ve all corrupted, Ling. I can’t believe this.”
“Something tells me you corrupted him first, boss,” Dolcetto jokes with a wiggle of his eyebrow.
Ling and Greed both flush pink, much to everyone’s delight.
But Ling finds he doesn’t mind being flustered by his new friends.
everyone would assume greed is the Freak but if u ask me i think ling is fully insane for accepting the homunculus into his body. THAT is Freak Behavior. also,
