Satisfaction AU timeline

Okay I feel the need to do a masterpost about the different fics in this timeline in order so you get this. Fic titles have the link to the fics in them.

She Wants Me (To Be Loved)

Focused around Martel and Olivier's past relationship in this timeline as well as Martel and Dolcetto's friendship, and will end up having a LOT of angst to it. I'm actually working some more on this today so I'm gonna try and update it more regularly.

From The Start

Focused around Greed and Dolcetto's past relationship and also will end up having more to do with Martel and Dolcetto's friendship. Will get more angsty as it progresses but for that to happen I need to go work on it again.

Just For Tonight

Originally titled "Edling Week 2024 prompt fills" this is focused on Edward and Ling's one night stand. I do want to rewrite this at some point because I half assed it due to the week being when I had my mocks in school, so maybe I'll do that at some point.

Satisfaction Feels Like a Distant Memory

The fic that started it all, focused around my two faves Ling and Greed. It was originally just going to be a buddy comedy with no real plot that would be centered around Elicia and Greed but we've come pretty far since then. This might actually be one of my favourite things I've ever written, and I really hope I'll be able to finish it someday in the future. If you're looking for badass lesbians, gay idiots in love, children containing eldritch horrors or teens who can't really control the alchemy they invented, then this is the fic for you.

(Just want to tack on a quick thank you to my friend @yelenapines here. This fic - or this universe - wouldn't be as long as it is if not for your encouragement bud, it's a real confidence boost. Maybe someday you'll end up writing your own fic and I can comment on it with the same amount of energy you do with this. So sincerely, thank you for everything.)

Explaining Elicia's Frostbite Alchemy

Okay fellas I'm finally making a post explaining the science of Elicia Hughes' alchemy technique which currently appears in two of my fics (Satisfaction as well as Simple and Clean) so let's start this.

Quick shout out to @kaethefangirl for helping me work out some of this stuff and designing the transmutation circle below

Elicia's frostbite alchemy is an adaptation of Roy's flame alchemy, but whereas his has a triangle (three points for the three elements needed to make fire - oxygen heat fuel), her's has a pentagon (five points) for the five elements needed to make a glacier:

90% water

9% oxygen

1% hydrogen

0.1% carbon

0.01% nitrogen

Her alchemy can be used to create ice and mostly uses her own breath to do so, given the fact that breath is a mixture of oxygen and water molecules so she can form ice from thin air!

However, she is also a little freak (probably from losing her dad at a young age and attempting human transmutation to bring him back and then joining the military when that failed) so she also tends to freeze the blood in people's veins. Some of the chemical components of blood include hydrogen and oxygen, so her alchemy can be used to freeze blood.

Her alchemy is similarly activated to Roy's (another thing due to basing her technique off of his) and so subsequently she uses alchemy gloves with the transmutation circle from earlier on them. Although it is harder to snap with her left hand (automail) she has gloves for both hands.

Speaking of her automail, it's made in the same style as Briggs automail is so as not to freeze over (although if you've read enough of Satisfaction you'll know that didn't work when her alchemy backfired on her).

Being both fifteen years old and the inventor of this new type of alchemy, Elicia does find it hard to control so sometimes just does regular transmutations instead but she likes to try and impress her uncle Roy occasionally by using her new alchemy (he's still upset she tried human transmutation though).

Well, I kinda skipped ahead to write the confession chapter for my fic... It's still a few chapters away but if anyone wants a sneak peak, then it's below the cut

Ling’s hands tightened around Greed's jacket, pulling him almost impossibly closer. “You don't have to apologise and you don't have to do anything.”

The homunculus didn't want to pull away but he forced himself to, stepping back in the darkness and wrapping his arms around his chest.

“No, Ling, all I've done since coming here is cause problems for you and I'm not going to just stick around and let that happen!” Greed protested. “If the others are waiting for me and Nina at the border then I'll go there and negotiate with them I just-” His voice cracked and he ran a hand through his hair to try and soothe himself. “I can't risk losing you. At the end of day, I can come back from dying. You can't. I need to protect you. I'm not losing another person that I care about.”

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?

Well, about three years ago (holy fuck, I was so young then, even babier than I am now) I saw loads of fanart of Ladybug and Spider-Man interacting and was like "I wanna write stuff about them meeting!" So I wrote that, it was shit, and I've been trying to get better. My friend eventually convinced me to get AO3 and it's simultaneously the best and worst thing in my life. I love that I've made friends because of my silly little stories but at the same time, I got addicted to it, so that's nice.

🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings

Look, I know we basically just had this conversation about both of these ships but I'm gonna get controversial and talk about my fave bois all being together. So, GreedLingEd, my beloveds, absolutely do NOT share one bed. They are all bed hogs and there would be lots of pissed off feelings when they wake up in the morning if they did. Greed can cope with that shit, he just latches onto someone he's sharing with and then overheats. But Edward and Ling would sooner die than give you bed space.

Honestly? Kind of what I'm writing for Satisfaction. If I could write that shit with your quality of writing, then I would die happy.

do you have any favorite greed/ling headcanons?

Oooh, hell yes, a chance to ramble about my blorbos is always fun (mostly Greed oops)

Headcanons below the cut cause I know this ship isn't everyone's cup of tea

Greed is a biter (if you've read Satisfaction then you already know this is a big ol' thing that I am number one believer of) and Ling simultaneously hates and loves him for it.

Greed loves to steal Ling's clothes and try them on even though they don't fit him.

Greed loves to sit on Ling's throne, even if Ling was there first.

More stuff to do with Satisfaction - They LOVE going to their special meadow together and having picnics.

Ling constantly blows off his duties as emperor to hang out with Greed.

Back when they were sharing a body and Greed was bored, Greed would just thought-chat pick-up lines to Ling.

^ In response, Ling would go "Mmm, that's nice can we go get food now, I'm starving."
