10th Special Forces Group. The first Special Forces group in the US Army was activated 74 years ago today; June 19, 1952 at Fort Bragg, NC. It was then moved to Bad Tölz, Bavaria, Germany. In 1968, B and C companies were moved to Fort Devens, MA and redesignated 2nd and 3rd battalions while A company stayed at Bad Tölz and was redesignated 1st battalion.
1st battalion stayed in Bad Tölz until 1991 when they moved to Pazner Kaserne in Böblingen, near Stuttgart.
2nd Battalion stayed at Fort Devens until September, 1994 when they moved to Fort Carson, CO. 3rd battalion moved to Fort Carson in July of 1995.
Seems as if American Special Forces are right now, at this minute, fighting it out with the IRGC to rescue the downed American airman in the Rig Mountains in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces
