Hey I've got a question. I've noticed you and a lot of other artists saying things along the lines of "hey we value our non artist friends just as much" which I think is great but from everything I've seen that just seems not true? I've noticed how much easier it is to become friends with someone if you send them gift art or something, whereas those who don't have that ability are kind of left behind seeing as you don't pay attention to them. I'm not trying to be accusatory here just curious.
I can totally see where you’re coming from with that! But I will say that that’s not really true, at least for myself, because I have friends such as Blaine, Rhys, and Jordan who don’t draw (or draw that often in Jordan’s case) but are still people I have come to consider family over the years. I spend time with them and care for them a whole lot! Whether someone is an artist or not is not my reason for them being important in my life.
While I won’t deny that the power of art is a strong form of getting to know someone which makes it appear “easy”, my qualifications for friendship are much more deep than that. My best friends are people I have spent time breaking down walls with, and we’ve clicked and mesh as a result. They’ve become part of me, hehe. It might come off that I don’t pay attention to them b/c when someone, say Nao, draws for me, he can post it, and everyone sees it, whereas if I have a deep conversation with Rhys (Luco), nobody sees that happening. But trust me - art is not my friendships. Some of my friends are artists and they show their appreciation as such, while others aren’t, but our appreciation is shown in other ways. owo
