Mortal Kombat (2021)

My rating: 4/10

Of course the real battle here was between myself and overwhelming boredom, and given that I ended up falling asleep about half an hour into this, I suppose boredom won. This is, basically, the unskippable cutscene at the beginning of the game, stretched to feature length and filled with pointless fanservice - did anybody else fly into a white hot rage every time they said a catchphrase from the games for absolutely no good reason?

I’m sorry for the low rating, but I really didn’t liked the movie at all. The fight scenes were ok, the intro was decent, Kano is hilarious but...that’s pretty much it. They did a lot of unecessary changes to the story, too many boring moments and worst of it all...Cole Young was such a pointless character.

New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat film is directed by Simon McQuoid. The screenplay is by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham from a story by Russo and Oren Uziel. The film stars Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Matilda Kimber as Emily Young, and Laura Brent as Allison Young.
